Impurities and stability

Worst-case challenges during pilot laboratory scale-up for yield, stability, and impurities... [Pg.434]

Secondary reactions of the hydrolysis products, stabilizers, and impurities fonn additional chemical products during VX hydrolysis. Upon verification of 99.9999 percent agent destruction, the agent hydrolysate is transferred to an agent hydrolysate storage tank, where it is blended with energetics hydrolysate prior to secondary treatment. Additional details on the chemistry and analysis of the hydrolysate are discussed in Chapter 3 and Appendix B. [Pg.29]

PET recycling by direct reuse, as described above, is by far the most economical process. However, it is useful in practice only for well-characterized PET wastes that have exactly known chemical composition (catalysts, stabilizers, and impurities). Therefore, the method is ideally suited for the recovery of in-production wastes, but it may not be suitable for post-consumer PET film. [Pg.715]

Application of IP and NCS in conjunction with specification tolerance limits enables to substantiate acceptance criteria for linear regression metrological characteristics (residual standard deviation, correlation coefficient, y-intercept), accuracy and repeatability. Acceptance criteria for impurity influence (in spectrophotometric assay), solution stability and intermediate precision are substantiated as well. [Pg.340]

A useful source of details such as likely impurities, stability and tests for homogeneity of amino acids is Specifications and Criteria for Biochemical Compounds, 3rd edn. National Academy of Sciences, USA, 1972. [Pg.64]

The most stable solid hypochlorites are those of Li, Ca, Sr and Ba (see below). NaOCl has only poor stability and cannot be isolated pure KOCl is known only in solution, Mg yields a basic hypochlorite and impure Ag and Zn hypochlorites have been reported. Hydrated salts are also known. Solid, yellow, hydrated hypobromites Na0Br.xH20 (x = 5, 7) and K0Br.3H20 can be crystallized from solutions obtained by adding Br2 to cold cone solutions of MOH but the compounds decompose above 0°C. No solid metal hypoiodites have yet been isolated. [Pg.858]

Alcohol sulfates are excellent foaming surfactants. According to the Kitchener and Cooper classification [148], alcohol sulfates form metastable foams. However, quantitative values cannot easily be compared because foam largely depends not only on the instrument used to produce and evaluate foam but also on the concentration of surfactant, impurities, temperature, and many other factors. In addition, a complete characterization of the foam capacity should take into account the initial amount of foam, its stability, and its texture. [Pg.265]

When assessing the robustness of a process, several factors that can adversely affect it include non-selective or side reactions that might produce adverse effects and impurities physical and chemical stability of the materials involved and complexity of the separation train of the processes. [Pg.239]

The burning process leaves very little solid remains only ash, made up of inorganic salts that rarely make up more than a few percent of the total mass of wood. When wood bums with a restricted supply of air, however, and there is insufficient oxygen to combine with all the carbon in the wood, the remains are made up of charcoal, a very porous and impure form of carbon. Charcoal is extremely stable it does not decay, nor is it altered by most microorganisms, and it may be preserved for very long periods of time charcoal often also preserves the morphology of the burned wood. Because of its stability, charcoal residues are often found in archaeological sites where wood was either used as fuel or otherwise burned. [Pg.325]

More than 3000 different enzymes have been extracted from animals, plants and microorganisms. Traditionally, they have been used in impure form since purification is expensive and pure enzymes may be difficult to store and use. There is usually an optimum temperature and pH for maximum activity of an enzyme. Outside these optimum conditions, activity may simply be held in check or the enzyme may become denatured , i.e. altered in such a way that activity is lost permanently, although some forms of denaturing are reversible. Many enzymes are also sensitive to transition-metal ions, the effect being specific to particular metal ions and enzymes. In some cases, certain metal ions are essential for the stability and/or activity of an enzyme. In other cases, metal ions may inhibit the activity of an enzyme. Similarly, certain organic compounds can act as enzyme inhibitors or activators. [Pg.77]

The stability of the pyrotechnic mixture has been studied, including the effect of hydrogen content of the hydride [1]. Presence of moisture and impurities adversely affects stability [2], and remote handling facilities for the mixture have been developed [3],... [Pg.1381]

The conversion of rapeseed oil and recycled oil from food production and cooking requires the development of heterogeneous basic catalysts with high stability towards water and impurities. [Pg.392]

Examples of the effects of impurities on phase equilibria in alloys of Th, Zr, V, Nb have been considered and discussed by Carlson and Smith (1987). Phase stabilization and also phase de-stabilization (carbon effect on Zr4Sn) processes have been described. [Pg.560]
