Spreading and reflecting layer

Spreading and reflective layer (Ti02 pigmented porous cellulose acetate coating)... [Pg.41]

Figure 5 BAM image of multilayer regions coexisting in spread and compressed films of the liquid crystal 8CB. Reproduced from Ref. 31. American Physical Society, 2007, and the figure caption reads as follows Brewster angle microscope image of the coexistence of 8CB multilayers. The background is 8CB trilayer. The layer reflectivity increases with thickness, so that different gray levels correspond to different thicknesses. The rippled variation in color within one domain is due to variations in illumination. The black scale bar is 1.0 mm. Spread a thin layer of the dried preparation on a Petri dish and expose to a low pressure mercury lamp until a noticeable colour change is seen. Mix the irradiated powder, after grinding well, with KBr and run the reflectance spectrum over the range 400-750 nm, using KBr as a blank. Carry out identical procedure with the original preparation and compare the two spectra. [Pg.228]

TPR, UV/VIS diffusion reflectance, H NMR and V NMR measurements for the VgOg - AlgOg and V Og - TiO, both anatase and rutile show that the vanadia layer on the prepared material is well-spread and that there is a significant interaction with the support. [Pg.507]

Before being glued to the glass sample, one face of each mica sheet has to be coated or spread with a thin layer of silver in 50 — 60 nm thick (reflectivity 96 % —98 %) for facilitating the optical interference. As shown in Fig. 16(a), when a beam of white light goes up vertically through the lower sample and reaches the silver film, the beam is partly re-... [Pg.15]

By coating the compliant electrodes with a thicker but softer layer of polymer gel, the gel can spread out along with the expanding fihn during actuation but bunches at points where the film compresses. If the polymers are imprinted with patterns of electrodes or shades of dots in a variety of shapes, these features can be raised or lowered to fabricate an active camouflage fabric which can change its reflectance for any defence systems and soldiers. [Pg.286]

X-ray diffraction has been applied to spread monolayers as reviewed by Dutta [67] and Als-Nielsen et al. [68], The structure of heneicosanoic acid on Cu and Ca containing subphases as a function of pH has been reported [69], as well as a detailed study of the ordered phases of behenic acid [70], along with many other smdies. Langmuir-Blod-gett films have also been studied by x-ray diffraction. Some recent studies include LB film structure just after transfer [71], variations in the structure of cadmium stearate LB films with temperature [72], and characterization of the structure of cadmium arachidate LB films [73], X-ray [74,75] and neutron reflectivity [76,77] data on LB films can be used to model the density profile normal to the interface and to obtain values of layer thickness and roughness. [Pg.69]
