Spindle field

Data were collected for source rocks and sandstones to provide the basis for material balance calculations. Pertinent source rock data were compiled (published and new data) for the Lower Cretaceous shales and limestones (see columnar section. Fig. 2) in the Wattenberg area, which is the deepest and hottest portion of the basin. Petrologic data were derived from the study of 115 thin sections of sandstones throughout the stratigraphic column. In the Wattenberg area, the LFpper Cretaceous Terry and Hygiene sandstones produce oil at Spindle field and the Lower Cretaceous Niobrara... [Pg.118]

The Orbitrap. The Orbitrap analyzer, [26] invented by Alexander Makarov, has been defined by the company that commercially produces it as the first totally new mass analyzer to be introduced to the market in more than 20 years . Its name recalls the concept of trapping ions. Indeed, ions are trapped in an electrostatic field produced by two electrodes a central spindle-shaped and an outer barrel-like electrode. Ions are moving in harmonic, complex spiral-like movements around the central electrode while shuttling back and forth over its long axis in harmonic motion with frequencies... [Pg.58]

One important application of pneumatic transmission is in the operation of diaphragm actuators. These are the elements generally employed to drive the spindles of control valves (Section 7.22.3) and, if hard-wired transmission systems are employed, require devices which convert electric current into air pressure or air flowrate, i.e. electropneumatic (E/P) converters. The basic construction of a typical E/P converter is illustrated in Fig. 6.77. A coil is suspended in a magnetic field in such a way that when a current is passed through the coil it rotates. This rotation is sensed by a flapper/nozzle system (Section 7.22.1). The nozzle is supplied with air via a restrictor and its back pressure actuates a pneumatic relay. The output from the latter is applied to the feedback bellows and also acts as output from the E/P converter. Electropneumatic valve positioners employ the same principle of operation. [Pg.551]

Orbitrap The newest of the major mass analyzers, the Orbitrap is a hybrid MS consisting of a LIT mass analyzer, or transmission quadmpoles connected to the high-resolution Orbitrap mass analyzer. The Orbitrap utilizes electrical fields between sections of a roughly egg-shaped outer electrode and an inner (spindle) electrode (Chapter 5). Ions orbit between the inner and outer electrodes and their oscillation is recorded on detector plates (Hardman and Makarov, 2003 Hu et al., 2005). As with the FTICR, fast Fourier transform of the raw data is used to convert the data for mass analysis, making the Orbitrap the second major type of FTMS instrument. The resolving power of the Orbitrap is intermediate... [Pg.18]

Place the lens cap over the outside collimator opening, and set the camera down with the beam-stop hole facing a well-lighted surface (beam stop not in place). By hand, turn the pulley wheel on the outside of the camera. As it goes around, the silhouette of the specimen should appear to go up and down. Stop it in an up position, and by means of the screw on top of the camera push it down to the center of the visual field. Turn the screw back up, and rotate again to see if further adjustment is needed if so use the screw as before. Continue until the specimen appears to undergo no motion as the spindle is rotated. [Pg.512]

In summary, the turnstile represents a new example of rotation in a molecular system. The fact that phenylacetylene macrocycles form discotic liquid crystals suggests the possibility that turnstiles might function as discotic ferroelectric liquid crystals [34]. A dipole appropriately incorporated on the spindle might allow for its own rotation to be controlled rapidly and reversibly by an external field. [Pg.27]

Mitotic indices as a percentage of total number of cells in 20 random fields are shown in Table XI. Heated fat suppressed the rate of mitosis with the greater effect shown by HOO. In Figure 8, some tripolar spindles were observed among the dividing cells in the presence of HOO. [Pg.143]
