Spelling plurals

Diagnosis If signs and symptoms spelled out above are noted in large numbers of geographically clustered patients, exposure to aerosolized ricin is the suggested cause. The word form is also used for numbers that start a sentence, unless the number is part of a chemical name. Whenever possible, however, rewrite the sentence so that it does not begin with a number. Units are spelled out following a number in word form and the plural verb is used (e.g., Ten milliliters were...). A sentence that begins with a spelled-out number reverts back to numerical form, when appropriate, in the rest of the sentence. Consider the following examples ... 

Grammar and mechanics Check for typos and errors in spelling, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. Be sure that you have used troublesome scientific plurals (e.g., data) correctly. 

Rule 5 Do not add a plural s to make an abbreviated unit plural (unless you are using the plural form of spelled-out units, e.g., milligrams). 

Add an s to form the plural of spelled-out units milligrams, poises, kelvins, amperes, watts, newtons, and so on.

Where two or more authorities use the same definition with only differences in format or punctuation, the definition is not duplicated it is reproduced from its source according to the following hierarchy UN, IMDG, ICAO, US, and LATA. Pyrites, too, are reported by the U.S. Geological Survey and National Resources Canada, in sulfur statistics.
