Speed of change

A phenomenon defined as fast changes in the intensity and frequency of a measured signal irrespective of the presence or absence of the analyte. The speed of change is significantly different from the normally expected detector response. A measure of noise is the measured difference between the highest and lowest value of the measured signal with no analyte present, observed in a relatively short time-span, as compared to the time-span necessary for measurement of the analyte. 

All this is easily said, but so far all we have done is raise the bar for executives. Where should the company make a start What does it take to make a holistic transformation of this kind happen - addressing all the elements described above Which elements need to be in place to achieve both speed of change and sustainability ... 

The Chinese market may be highly attractive, but it also differs greatly from that in Europe or North America. It is extremely dynamic, and the speed of change combined with a high degree of uncertainty means that companies appear and vanish at rates unknown in the West. This makes industry and market data hard to obtain - and the validity of available data questionable. 

This text is not intended as a technical handbook. In an area where the speed of change and growth is unusually high, a book in print cannot be either comprehensive or entirely current. This book is conceived as a textbook for students who have taken biochemistry and are familiar with the general topics. However, the book aims to reinforce subject matter by first reviewing the fundamental concepts of biochemistry briefly. These are followed by overviews on computational approaches to solve biochemical problems of general and special topics. 

Yet, despite the naysayers, access to university turned from a dream to a reality. Even the supporters, such as Faithfull, marvelled at the speed of change ...

However, there are only a few practical examples to back Mintzberg s claim. Practical experience and research results differ not because market turbulence forces enterprises to adapt but because the speed of change adds a new dimension to market turbulence. The results of the latest Delphi study show that the speed of change has increased considerably in the last 10 years (Delphi-Studie 1998). 

To achieve increased transformahUity, it is necessary to check the process efficiency continuously with regard to the current speed of change. If processes are to be successfully and comprehensively... 

Given the speed of change of Internet technology nowadays, this chapter makes no attempt to list or describe all the ongoing PHR projects. Instead, it describes the considerations involved in developing a ubiquitous PHR for remote regions, and gives examples of systems which involve some or all of the necessary features. 

The tabulated air lead figures for U.S. areas were approximated globally, especially in major cities outside the United States. In a number of cases, cities outside the United States presented figures greater than those in the United States for the period 1975—1984. This difference arose in some significant part from the relatively slower speed of change in lead content of gasoline for non-U.S. vehicular fleets and other lead uses. 

What determines the speed of change This is a question with respect to relative sensitivities. 

The model should provide insight into those factors that determine the speed of change of the indication of the height of the mercury of the thermometer (see Fig. 1.4a).
