Ternary spectra

Low-temperature solvents are not readily available for many refractory compounds and semiconductors of interest. Molten salt electrolysis is utilized in many instances, as for the synthesis and deposition of elemental materials such as Al, Si, and also a wide variety of binary and ternary compounds such as borides, carbides, silicides, phosphides, arsenides, and sulfides, and the semiconductors SiC, GaAs, and GaP and InP [16], A few available reports regarding the metal chalcogenides examined in this chapter will be addressed in the respective sections. Let us note here that halide fluxes provide a good reaction medium for the crystal growth of refractory compounds. A wide spectrum of alkali and alkaline earth halides provides... [Pg.83]

Having derived a solution for two-component systems, we could try and extend this solution to three-component systems. A PCA of a data set of spectra of three-component mixtures yields three significant eigenvectors and a score matrix with three scores for each spectrum. Therefore, the spectra are located in a three-dimensional space defined by the eigenvectors. For the same reason, explained for the two-component system, by normalization, the ternary spectra are found on a surface with one dimension less than the number of compounds, in this case, a plane. [Pg.267]

The nature of the ternary species is unclear but the addition of perchlorate to the complex causes no detectable shift in the position of the peaks in the visible spectrum. This may indicate that the anion effect involves an outer-sphere association or it may involve a weak axial inner-sphere coordination. [Pg.40]

Grant et al. described an investigation of the ternary complex of ATP and bis(2-pyridyl)amine (MgATP/BPA), using advanced solid-state NMR methods such as Mg REDOR and Mg MQMAS in Mg-isotopically enriched samples. In the 3QMAS spectrum, the authors detected the presence of two Mg sites with close Mg quadrupole parameters. With help of a REDOR experiment, the assignment of these two sets of parameters to Mg ions either coordinated to water molecules or to phosphate oxygen donors was then possible. [Pg.99]

With increasing density, N-body interactions with N = 3, 4,. .. may have a discernible effect on the total intensities as well as on the shape of the absorption profile. One may expect a ternary component, and at higher densities perhaps four-body, etc., spectral components that are superimposed with the binary spectrum. At the highest densities (e.g., liquids and pressurized fluids) every monomer may be assumed in permanent interaction with a substantial number of near neighbors. At intermediate densities, that is well below liquid densities, one may be... [Pg.67]

Hydrogen. Accurate ab initio dipole surfaces for both the rototrans-lational collision-induced absorption spectrum in the far infrared [282], and the rotovibrational collision-induced absorption spectrum in the near infrared [281] have been obtained that may be used to compute the pairwise-additive ternary contributions for both bands. However, measurements of the density-dependence exist only for the fundamental band, Table 6.6. We note that according to the nomenclature adopted, molecule 1 undergoes the vibrational transition. [Pg.298]

H2 He He rotovibrational band. The density dependence of the H2-He enhancement spectrum in the fundamental band of hydrogen has been measured previously, using a trace of hydrogen in helium of thousands of amagats [121, 175, 142] ternary moments were measured at room temperature. The measurements suggest again greater values of the spectral moments, Table 6.7. [Pg.300]

The resonance Raman spectrum of a similar complex has been reported, that of a ternary complex of LADH, NADH and 4-(7V 7V-dimethylamino)benzaldehyde (DABA) with the disappearance of the carbonyl stretching frequency of the DABA at 1664 cm-1 also indicating strongly that inner sphere complexation of the substrate occurs, the zinc withdrawing electron density from the aldehyde oxygen forming a zinc-oxygen coordinate bond.1397... [Pg.1014]
