Sizing. In most flotation plants, flotation concentrates, after being dried, are sized into three fractions and each serves a specific agricultural market. The fractions are coarse-, standard-, and suspension-grades of muriate of potash. Typical screen analyses are presented in Table 6 other physical characteristics are summarized in Table 7. 

Future studies must focus on those specific agricultural technologies that have contributed to the increased use of pesticides during the past 40 years, and why crop losses to pests continue to Increase. Research needs not only to identify the detrimental technologies, but, more Important, develop ecologically sound practices that farmers can use as profitable substitutes (15). 

The story of Hawaiian papayas is an example where GE was the most appropriate technology to address a specific agricultural problem. There was no other technology then to protect the papaya from this devastating disease, nor is there today. 

Some aspects of the sources, occurrence, and dispersion of airborne pesticide residues (6, 27) and methods for their sampling and analysis (28, 29, 30, 31) have been reviewed elsewhere. In this paper, the focus will be on sampling methodology, experimental design, and some results from recent field tests aimed at determining the entry and proximate fate of airborne residues in relation to specific agricultural treatments. 

Several published methods showed acceptable recoveries from specific agricultural commodities using GC with Hame ionization or electron capture detection (Kawatia et at., 1976 RJPAC, 1979 Simonailis, 1983). GC-MS (Cave, 1981) and HPLC with UV detection (Krause and August, 1983 Nijhuis et at.. 

Biodiversity is an example of a public good. The knowledge that biodiversity is enhanced by a specific agricultural system might actually increase many people s utility. However, it is difficult to exclude anyone from the use of biodiversity. As humans are assumed to act solely in self-interest, they use as much of that public good as they desire. Consequently, this good (biodiversity) becomes scarce at some point, and demand would outstrip supply.

Uses Descriptions of specific agricultural uses ate based on one or more of the following sources — HSDB (1989), CHRIS Manual (1984), Sittig (1985) and Verschueren (1983). This information is useful in attempting to identify potential sottrces of the industrial and environmental contamination. 

Selection of a product depends on the type of soil and protection, climatic, and irrigation requirement of the crops. For specific agriculture produce that do not require cross-poUination, eg, special varieties of brinjal, agrotextiles are the perfect solution. 

Railroads transport almost a quarter of all agricultural shipments. For certain specific agricultural commodities the market share is even higher. The AAR (1996a) reports that in railroads carried forty percent of total domestic grain production. Railroads also have significant market shares for transporting ores, chemicals, and scrap materials. 

The material characteristics (polysaccharide, protein, polyester, plasticised or not, chemically modified or not, used alone or in combination) and the fabrication procedures (casting of a film forming solution, thermoforming) must be adapted to each specific agricultural product and usage condition (irrigation, temperature, cultivation duration, etc.).
