Specific stage number

Specific stage number n, in relation to the pressure drop (David). Test mixture benzene-ethylenedi-chloride, 14 mol%... [Pg.160]

Specific stage number ( th P i ) a. a function of the load for various packings according to Stage (Refs. chap. 1 [39])... [Pg.161]

The quotient of the specific stage number and the flow factor was regarded as a fundamental value, indejiendent of the Reynolds number Re. This quotient proved to be 0.13 for all mixtures evaluated by David, at any pressure. As he assumed that the greatest separating effect is obtained at the upper limiting velocity, the expression... [Pg.181]

Relation between the specific stage number and the speed of rotation, with the load as parameter, for rotating cylinder columns [71]... [Pg.379]

It is partly the fault of statistics that experimenters have misconstrued the value of the number and precision of data points relative to the value of the location of the points. The importance of the location of the data in the model specification stage can be seen from Fig. 1, which represents literature data (M3) on sulfur dioxide oxidation. The dashed and solid lines represent the predicted rates of two rival models, and the points are the results of two series of experimental runs. It can be seen that neither a greater number of experimental points nor data of greater precision will be of major assistance in discriminating between the two rival models, if data are restricted to the total pressure range from 2 to 10 atm. These data simply do not place the models in jeopardy, as would data below 2 atm and greater than 10 atm total pressure. This is presumably the problem in the water-gas shift reaction, which is classical in terms of the number of models proposed, each of which adequately represent given sets of data. [Pg.168]

The following extraction-stripping operation provides for complete Am and Cm extraction, together however with the RE fraction of the FP and substantial amounts of Ru. It acts in the 1st option as a back-up cycle for Pu and Np separation, otherwise these elements too must be separated here completely (option 2). The utilisation of pulsed columns remains the first choice also for this operation and the aqueous raffinate must meet the final specifications for "alpha free" HAW. Again it is therefore of highest importance to run the extraction section at convenient conditions, i.e. at a sufficient stage number and phase ratio. To an A/O ratio of 0.33 corresponds 33% TBP saturation (RE). Only experimental counter-current tests may be able to show if this phase ratio can be increased and if perhaps a scrub could provide for a better separation mainly from Ru, without compromising the complete Am-Cm extraction. [Pg.420]

The withdrawal of this sidestream introduces two new variables which may be specified such as the stage number + 1 of the sidestream withdrawal, and its flow rate W. Instead of kx and W, any other two product specifications may be made such as wr/dr, ws/ds, x s, x r, and Tw, xWr as shown in Table 9-5. Components r and s consist of any two components of the feed which are selected in the order of increasing volatility s is more volatile than r. In the following application of Box s complex method, it will be supposed that the additional specifications for the stream W are ws/ds, wr/dr. The complete set of additional purity specifications are taken to be... [Pg.309]

The temperatures of all stages between the top temperature TD of the overhead condenser and the temperature TB of the reboiler were assumed to vary linearly with stage number. The temperatures TD and TB corresponding to the best possible separation are found by taking the total number of stages equal to the upper bound NL. In order to find a set of specifications each of which is better than the specified value, let and n2 be determined, respectively, by solving the following equations... [Pg.332]

In muscle development, a number of myofibrillar proteins appears at specific stages of differentiation. There is evidence that expression of myosin heavy chain mRNA may involve its synthesis and storage as mRNP before the mRNA is mobilized into polysomes at a specific stage (Buckingham et al., 1974 Heywood and Rich, 1968 Jain and Sarkar, 1979), but the data are not yet as convincing as in the previous examples. [Pg.146]
