The problem of the stability of a crack in a piping run subject to an internal impact has been studied. Assuming that the crack has spread circumferentially over the tube with constant length in the radial direction the deformation is considered to be axisymmetric. The motion of a generator of the cylinder has been defined making use of the methods of plastic analysis of cylindrical shells. This motion in turn has been employed to calculate the J-integral and tearing modulus for a cylindrical cantilever tube with a crack in the root section. [Pg.561]

Resists weathering meets requirements for "pop-out" from internal impact. [Pg.154]

Britain, Ireland and Spain have each adopted legally-binding standards for environmental audits as an instrument for ensuring enviromnental compliance and improvement. The British Standards Institute s BS 7750 has had the strongest international impact of the three (the others being Ireland s IS 310 and... [Pg.137]

The fagades on each side of the building are made differently and designed according to the external and internal impact factors. All in all, this results in a design which appears as anything but a stereotype like... [Pg.278]

Emissions of air pollutants can give rise to local/ regional and international impact depending on the particular circiamstances. [Pg.2]

The NDHP is deagned as a twin unit plant. The leak-tight part of the reactor building is shaped as a cyUndrical ferro-concrete containment with hemi-spherical dome. The ferro-concrete is not prestressed the thickness of the containment walls is 1.6 m. The containment is intended for protection against external and internal impacts and is designed for ... [Pg.133]

NEXAFS microscopy has moved well beyond proof-of-principle experiments and has evolved into a tool that has been used in a variety of polsrmer science and technology projects. It is particularly noteworthy to remark that numerous industrial partners have participated over the last few years in nexafs microscopy experiments. Some of these industrial experiments performed, some with high industry internal impact, will remain impublished, because of proprietary concerns. [Pg.9363]

The organizational impact of accidents was mentioned by a few. This included the internal impact of the introduction of another set of instructions, something that was not necessarily regarded as a good thing to the extent that it may not tackle the root problem. One departmental safety manager explained that it was costly to lose trained staff either permanently or temporarily ... [Pg.210]

Engineering services are also computed into project cost via cost units. They are essentially commodities that are bought and sold. The market is global because many of the actors and many projects are international impacts are transnational, and all purchases, also engineering services, are made globally. [Pg.1137]

The internal impaction of aerosol particles with an aerodynamic diameter, tip, on a specific stage i can be described by the Stokes number St(tip) ... [Pg.134]

Inherent safety features are incorporated in the RUTA-70 design to protect the reactor from internal impacts. The containment (protective enclosure) assures the protection from selected external impacts. [Pg.393]

One does hear about the importance of the creation of Les Houches for the rebirth of French science, after its wartime collapse. My aim here has been to stress the international impact, beyond the specific problems of the France of 1950. The creation of the School of Physics at Les Houches represents an important advance in the organisation of world scientifc research, an innovative new model which has now become an essential element everywhere. I would like to congratulate the Scientific and Medical University of Grenoble and her President who is here with us for its having taken the School under its auspices. [Pg.4]
