Solvent transport, storage, recovery and disposal

The loss of crude oil from the Exxon Valdez which subsequently contaminated large areas of the coastline in Alaska [1]. [Pg.127]

In November 1984 a storage depot near Mexico City containing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) ignited following a large gas leak killing 550 people with a further 2000 injured [2]. [Pg.127]

However, considering the regularity and distance solvents are transported, coupled with the large number of storage facilities throughout the world, it is a credit to the industry and the current guidelines and regulations that such instances are so rare. [Pg.127]

The recommendations and regulations governing solvent transportation are now discussed in origin and detail. Solvent storage regulations and guidelines are dealt with later. [Pg.127]

This volume is divided into two parts.
