Moen, J., Claeson, K., Pienaar, H., Lindell, S., Ploeg, R.J., McAnulty, J.F., Vreugdenhil, P., Southard, J.H. and Belzer, F.O. (1989). Preservation of dog liver, kidney, and pancreas using the Belzer-UW solution with a high-sodium and low potassium content. Transplantation 47, 940-945. [Pg.95]

Initial inhibition of sodium uptake and whole body sodium content that were normal by day 28. Abnormal liver enzyme activity. Liver copper increased from 23 mg/kg FW at start to 113 mg/kg FW at day 28... [Pg.191]

Exposure-dependent decrease in respiration rate 53 and content of sodium, potassium, and calcium in gill, brain, muscle and liver. At 48 h, whole animal respiration rate decreased 51%, tissue Na content by 28-40%, tissue K content by 28-34°/ o, and tissue Ca content by 19-36%... [Pg.1113]

Kirkbride (1987) described the estimation of diazinon in human omental tissue (fatty tissue) after a fatal poisoning. In this method, the tissue was pulverized and extracted with acetone. After extract concentration and purification by sweep co-distillation and Florisil fractionation, diazinon was measured by gas chromatography (GC) with nitrogen-phosphorus detection (NPD). After another fatal diazinon poisoning, diazinon was quantified by GC/electron capture detection (ECD) and GC/flame ionization detection (FID) by Poklis et al. (1980). The diazinon in human adipose, bile, blood, brain, stomach contents, kidney, and liver was recovered by macerating the sample with acetonitrile followed by the addition of aqueous sodium sulfate and extraction into hexane. Following an adsorption chromatography clean-up, the sample was analyzed. [Pg.173]

Vitamin C Ascorbic acid is the most important redox substance of cell metabolism. The body content probably amounts to about 2-5 g, the major part being stored in the liver and muscles. Intestinal absorption (80-90%) is an active, sodium-dependent process. The transport of ascorbic acid in the blood probably takes place as an ascorbic acid-albumin complex. Cellular uptake is stimulated by insulin. [Pg.49]

The sodium content of rib bones, liver, kidneys, and prostate is not significantly influenced by either age or sex (Table 1.2-4) (Anke 2003). The sodium concentration of several tissues of horses (n = 67-79) varied between 9.3 1.4 g kg DM in kid-... [Pg.502]

At 4-8 weeks after the start of Na depletion, the goats showed a strong lick rage, they were restless, and their hair was shaggy, lusterless, full-posomed and contained lesser amounts of sodium. The intrauterine Na deficiency had no significant effect on the whole body sodium content of the kids, nor of their livers. The hair of Na-depleted kids stored lesser amounts of Na compared with controls (Schellner 1969). [Pg.511]
