The mechanism of catalysis of ester aminolysis by weak amine bases of substituted phenylquinoline-6- and -8-carboxylates were evaluated, and the solvent effects were examined by semiempirical SM2.1/AM1, ab initio SCIPCM [124] and PS-Solv [125]. All these models predicted that a zwitterionic tetrahedral intermediate should be formed in this reaction. The results did not support the proposed earlier proton slide mechanism and allowed to propose a mechanism which was fully consistent with the experimental observations [126]. [Pg.201]

Furthermore, for a given concentration of fibres, the toughness values associated to type fibres are always lower. This trend is related to the microscopic features observed on tl e surfaces of rupture and correlated to acoustic emission analysis. SEM micrographs of il e surfaces of rupture (Fig. 16a and 16b) clearly show long pull-out lengths of the type A fibres with very smooth surfaces whereas type B fibres are covered with matrix. The cohesive ruptui e of the matrix reinforced with type B fibres is consistent with the occurrence of a unique population of acoustic emission events (Fig. 16a) whereas two populations are observed wiih type A fibres (Fig. 16b) associated to fibre decohesion and sliding mechanisms. [Pg.414]

However, the pin must not be rotated when the position of the compression rollers is changed. Therefore, this system is ideally suited for machines that change roller position by a vertical slide mechanism as opposed to an eccentric mechanism. Shear pins are typically custom manufactured, where quality depends not only on the pin design but also on the strain gauge receptivity and arrangement. [Pg.3624]

In summarizing, it can be concluded that the microhardness of elongational flow injection moulded PE is influenced by a local double mechanical contribution (a) a plastic deformation of crystal lamellae under the indenter, and (b) an elastic recovery of shish-fibrils parallel to the injection direction after load removal. Further, the Shish-crystals are preferentially formed when high orientation occurs, i.e. at zones near the centre of the mould and at an optimum processing temperature Tp around 145-150 °C. Below this temperature overall orientation decreases due to a wall-sliding mechanism of the mbber-like molten polymer. [Pg.211]

Examples of good preventive maintenance activities include (1) establish the frequency of lubrication and what types of oil or grease must be used (2) check for oil leaks and have a procedure to correct/eliminate them (3) check heaters, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and so on (4) set up schedules and procedure to clean machines and molds/dies (barrels, screws, sliding mechanisms, clamps, etc.) (5) check control circuits (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, etc.) (6) schedule checks of conditions wherever questions of alignment, level, parallelism (mold parts, mold press, die system, etc.), and other similar situations exist (7) set up a schedule to check safety devices on all equipment and (8) schedule sessions to repeat instructions on safety equipment procedures to all personnel. Figure 11-8 shows where accidents usually occur (324, 325). [Pg.360]

These results unequivocally demonstrated the existence of tailored presentation of peripheral recognition moieties insured by the rigid central scaffold. Clear multivalent effects beyond the expected statistical rebinding and local concentration effects was observed. In addition, the plausible implication of a sliding mechanism of the inhibitors in the enzyme active site or an additional binding process at a close allosteric site might explain the distinct specificity enhancement. [Pg.308]
