Zinc phosphate, Zn2(P0 2> forms the basis of a group of dental cements. Chromium and zinc phosphates are utilized in some metal-treating appHcations to provide corrosion protection and improved paint adhesion. Cobalt(II) phosphate octahydrate [10294-50-5] Co2(P0 2 8H20, is a lavender-colored substance used as a pigment in certain paints and ceramics. Copper phosphates exhibit bioactivity and are used as insecticides and fungicides. Zinc, lead, and silver phosphates are utilized in the production of specialty glasses. The phosphate salts of heavy metals such as Pb, Cr, and Cu, are extremely water insoluble. 

A chain for conveying products, such as food or medicines, comprises components of resin links and resin hnk pins with the same shape. The links and link pins ate formed by moulding a mixture of polyacetal and 0.1 to 5. 0 wt.% of an inorganic antibacterial agent containing silver, such as silver phosphate salt glass, which is dispersed homogeneously in the polyacetal. 

One important field of application for dispersion-reinforced glass matrix composites is as biomaterials for implants and in orthopaedics. Bioactive sihcate and phosphate glasses and glass-ceramics are toughened by incorporating biocompatible second phases, for example titanium, silver or stainless steel particles or chopped fibres [20,24,54,76,77].

For the glasses of sodium meta-arsenate-phosphates, a pure pre- cipitate of silver polyphosphates is obtained directly by treating the filtrate of the silver orthoarsenate precipitation with a concentrated solution of silver nitrate The silver polyphosphates thus obtained are washed with acetone and dried.

Experimental values of Ag/P ratios of silver polyphosphates derived from the crystals and the glasses of sodium meta-arsenate-phosphates are shown in Table XIX. Also shown are calculated values of the Ag/P ratios, which are obtained on the assumption that the average chain length of the silver polyphosphate is equal to the P/As ratio of the initial sodium meta-arsenate-phosphate. The two sets of values for Ag/P ratios indicate a good agreement. Experimental values for the average chain length, w, of the silver polyphosphates are calculated from the experimental values for Ag/P ratios by the use of equation 15 (Table XIX).
