An effective communications structure must be established, and will follow the command structure. The ambulance service will provide a communications officer at the silver command who will coordinate arrangements. Communications will also be established and maintained with gold (or strategic) command and with receiving hospitals. [Pg.48]

Transport of casualties to receiving hospitals and the pattern of patient dispersal is an ambulance service. The availability of beds is coordinated through gold and silver commands. The ambulance commander will appoint ambulance loading and parking officers. [Pg.49]

The emergency services responses at the scene are controlled by the individual service commanders, who together comprise the joint emergency services control centre or silver command. The silver commanders report to their gold command. Ambulance, police and fire commanders will usually be appointed. A medical incident commander will be appointed in incidents involving significant numbers of live casualties. [Pg.52]

Foil balloons are derived from the effort of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Space Command with the concept and technology to metalizate plastic sheeting. While the balloons are often referred to as Mylar or silver Mylars, they are not made from Mylar, a trade name for certain polyester film. They should be simply referred to as foil balloons. They are made from nylon film coated on one side with PE and metallized on the other. The nylon film gives the balloon some strength and the PE gives it some flexibility and helps retard the release of the held gas. [Pg.293]

Her face did have a few feminine qualities, Louise admitted, but not many the shaven scalp was too unsettling—all ladies had long hair. The judgemental way Layia took in the scene betrayed her authority that she was in command had never been in doubt from the moment she spoke, it had nothing to do with the silver star on her epaulette. [Pg.231]

As detailed in Chapter 13, electrolytic refining retains some of the thermal refining steps but replaces the removal of silver (and consequently zinc) and bismuth by the electrolytic refining stage. It generally produces a higher grade lead which can command a premium sale price. [Pg.281]

THE NOBLE METALS, or precious metals, consist of gold, silver, and the platinum group metals (PGM)— platinum, palladium, iridium, rhodium, osmium, and ruthenium. These metals are known for their stability in corrosive environments, physical beauty, and unique physical and chemical properties. They command a premium price because of their low abundance in nature. The noble metals are used in many applications with great success and often with few, if any, substitutable materials. [Pg.309]

Let there be several minor magistrates over the several areas of divided jurisdiction. On military service let there be tribunes in command of those whom they are ordered to command. In civilian affairs let them guard the public funds, let them supervise the chains of the guilty, let them inflict capital punishments, let them publicly coin bronze, silver, or gold, let them judge lawsuits that have been joined, and let them perform whatever the senate shall decree. [Pg.209]
