Separators oxidation resistance

Polysilane co-polymers with pendant siloxane groups were also synthesized, aiming at air oxidation-resistant polysilanes, utilizing the partial tendency for phase separation of polar side chain and apolar main chain, resulting in surface accumulation of siloxane groups,154 155 as shown in Scheme 20. [Pg.577]

Most lubricating oils for engine use contain additives designed to improve such properties as lubricity, detergency, oxidation resistance, and viscosity. The additives contain elements that could be potentially harmful to catalysts. Table I lists these elements and their typical concentration in lubrication oils of 1973. The first three elements are combined usually in one compound, zinc dialkyldithiophosphate. Thus, before combustion, sulfur and phosphorus in oil are in a different chemical state than the same elements are in fuel. Little is known whether combustion nullifies these differences partially or fully. Some data, to be discussed subsequently, are available on the separate poisoning effects of these elements as derived either from the fuel or from the oil. [Pg.316]

Today, a typical process flow for advanced ICs consists of 300 to 500 steps, 30% of which are wafer cleaning steps." Many process steps during IC fabrication may introduce contamination, which must be cleaned before the next process step. For example, in processes such as steam oxidation, resist etching, and ion implantation, metallic contamination typically introduces a surface concentration of 10 to lO Vcm. The need for wafer cleaning can be separated into three areas (1) preparation of the wafer surfaces for oxidation, diffusion, deposition, and metallization (2) preparation for the application of photoresist and (3) removal of photoresist after the etching process." ... [Pg.340]

The TOC instrument also has provision for the analysis of refractory organic carbon, the less volatile and more oxidation resistant forms of carbon, which may be present. To do this, a vaporization and oxidation mode at 850°C is used, which gives a separate reading. The total organic carbon reading for the sample is the sum of the two-component readings (Eq. 4.42). [Pg.132]

Solvent refining to adjust the viscosity index (VI) and improve the base stock s response to oxidation. This solvent extraction separates the low VI and easily oxidizable fraction from the more desirable high VI and oxidation-resistant components. [Pg.141]

Current fiber coatings either have inadequate oxidation resistance or are not stable with fibers and matriees at elevated temperatures. Generally, these limitations result in degradation of the strength and toughness of the eomposites during use. The issues for coatings for non-oxide fibers differ from issues for oxide fibers and are diseussed separately below. [Pg.101]
