Separation tensile strength

A crucial test for this hypothesis is to check whether or not SBR gum stocks yield separate tensile strength-cross-link density curves for different types of curing system. If they do, then this hypothesis, which involves the process of crystallization, cannot be invoked since SBR is amorphous. Published data is somewhat equivocal. [Pg.243]

These fibrous minerals share several properties which qualify them as asbestiform fibers (/) they are found in large clusters which can be easily separated from the host matrix or cleaved into thinner fibers (1) (2) the fibers exhibit high tensile strengths (1) (J) they show high length diameter ratios, from a minimum of 20 up to >1000 (1) (4) they are sufficiendy dexible to be spun and (5) macroscopicaHy, they resemble organic fibers such as cellulose (2). [Pg.344]

Practical considerations enter into the experimental plan in various other ways. In many programs, variables are introduced at different operational levels. For example, in evaluating the effect of alloy composition, oven temperature, and varnish coat on tensile strength, it may be convenient to make a number of master alloys with each composition, spHt the alloys into separate parts to be subjected to different heat treatments, and then cut the treated samples into subsamples to which different coatings are appHed. Tensile strength measurements are then obtained on all coated subsamples. [Pg.521]

Spall strength The dynamic tensile strength of a material associated with tension that results from the wave interaction of rarefaction waves. When the spall strength is exceeded, the material separates, or spalls. ... [Pg.42]

Microfiber glass fleece mats are typically produced from a blend of 20 - 30 percent glass microfibers <1 //m in diameter, with the balance of the glass fibers thicker (3 - 10 //m) and longer (cf. Fig. 1), on a specialized paper machine (Fou-drinier), since this is the only way of achieving the desired tensile strength without binder. The material is supplied in roll form, even though it is normally not processed into pockets, which are not required due to the absence of free electrolyte. The classification here as a leaf separator should be seen in this sense. [Pg.268]

The processes for manufacturing microporous membranes can be broadly divided into wet processes and dry processes. Both processes usually employ one or more orientation steps to impart porosity and/or increase tensile strength. Figure 2 shows scanning electron micrographs of surfaces of separators made by each process. [Pg.555]

Test pieces are chosen to suit the property used to monitor change (see Section 7.13). For the basic non-destructive measurement of change in mass, dimensions and appearance, this would be pieces of sheet or profile. Where the measurement is destructive, for example the measurement of tensile strength, separate sets of specimens are required for each temperature and duration. [Pg.67]

Niobium-uranium alloy has a high tensile strength, making it ideal in the manufacture of fuel rods for nuclear reactors that resist separation. [Pg.127]
