Represents more than 400 manufacturers of polymers, additives, and machinery as well as all types of plastics processors and fabricators. Membership is divided into 15 Business Groups sharing four Market Sector Groups.

Clarification Producers and formulators will need to work closely with the Competent Authorities to clarify issues of scope, guidance and testing strategy. This will need to occur not only in a general way through the various industry and sector groups but also through one-on-one producer-authority iterative discussion.

ASEAN does not have a specific group dedicated to chemicals. Most issues pertaining to chemicals, especially hazardous wastes, are deal within the environment sector grouping and process, i.e. from AWGMEA to ASOEN to AMME. Chemical-related issues impacting on other sectors are taken up in relevant ASEAN formations such as the following ...

Safety professionals should be aware that COBRA is administered by several federal agencies. The U.S. Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service-Treasury Department have jurisdiction over private sector group health plans, and the Department of Health and Human Services governs public sector health plans. Safety professionals should be aware that the U.S. Department of Labor provides the regulations and interpretations addressing disclosure and notification requirements. 

If required, a SDS for the registered substance (eventually with ES) by using an existing one in agreement with the owner, thus having legitimate access to the information or provided by his trade association or sector group... 

Within the Regions are point of co-ordination of safety standards for particular industry sectors known as Sector Groups. 

To advise it on matters for improving health and safety within an industry, the HSC has established a series of Industry Advisory Committees (lAC). These lACs are tripartite with the Sector Groups providing the secretariat. 

The discussion that follows provides a description of the general use of strategy tools and techniques in total, and across the 7 business activities outlined earlier in chapter 1. The analysis then focuses on the use of tools and techniques across the 16 industry sectors and the 6 industry sector groupings also outlined in chapter 1.

The Telecommunications results are difficult to explain because firms in this sector sitffer from many of the same problems as those experienced by other firms operating in the Process/Combimd industry sector grouping. The cause may be simply a function of the practices of the companies interviewed and their particular approaches to strategy, which may not be representative of the sector as a whole. The chapter is arranged in the same manner as the other analytic chapters. It reports the survey findings by assessing the general use of tools and techniques in marketing and sales, and the uses related to specific business activities within the function. The use of these tools and techniques across industry sectors and industry sector groupings is also reported, as is their overall performance. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the barriers to successful implementation and some tentative arguments are provided to explain the pattern of use and performance. 

Having seen that there is some clear duplication of effort within the strategy and the marketing and sales functions when it comes to the use of tools and techniques, and that the function does not appear to use marketing and sales specific tools and techniques as extensively as one might have expected, it is now possible to asses the performance of those that were found to be in use. In this part the objectives behind the use of tools and techniques are described and their impact on both the firm and the function. This is followed by an analysis of their impact by industry sector and by industry sector grouping. Finally there is a discussion of the major barriers to effective implementation.
