An expert committee of the League of Nations planned a third conference for 1938, but it was never convened because of World War II [2].

The three Health Ministers of the United Kingdom, in consultation with the medical and pharmaceutical professions and the ABPl, set up the Committee on Safety of Drugs (CSD) in June 1963. The three Health Ministers were the Secretary of State for Scotland, the Minister of Health and the Minister of Health and Social Services, Northern Ireland. 

The demise of the CSD was marked by a reception at Lancaster House in December 1971. Although standard Spanish and German encyclopedias state that Don Fausto de EIhuyar also became Secretary of State, Dr. Fages (6) pointed out that this is incorrect.
