Venkata Jaganmohan Reddy was bom in 1979 (Hyderabad, India). After graduating from National Institute of Technology, Warangal, India, he worked as a Research Chemist at Dr. Reddy s Research Laboratories, Hyderabad, India, and as a Senior Research Associate at the Suven Life Sciences Limited, Hyderabad, India, for four years. He is currently working with Professor M. Venkat Ram Reddy at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Minnesota Duluth.

Figure 1 Reports of novel natural products from marine macroalgae since 1980. The search was conducted using Marinlit and ISI Web of Science, limiting output to chemistry journal research articles and notes, using a number of keywords. Hits were verified to ensure that natural products reported were new and discoveries were not double-counted. This figure may underrepresent the actual discovery rate, if natural products were reported in nonchemistry journals and/or if keywords were different from those used for the literature search.

According to Miller and Miller (in Plaass 1994, 156) Kant s notion of proper science limits the everyday objectificational paradigm to only what can be described in terms of spatio-temporal determinations because this is necessary to assure the kind of reproducibility and measurability needed for mathematization of nature. Such reproducibility demands the experimental isolatability characteristic... 

Science is also limited by the data that is able to be collected. Data may be interpreted differently on different occasions. Science limitations cause explanations to be changeable as new technologies emerge.

A new technology would be of interest to the semiconductor industry if it only addressed one of the problems in the chip manufacturing processes. But a new technology that produces faster and smaller logic and memory, reduces fabrication complexity, saves days to weeks of manufacturing time, and reduces the consumption of natural resources, would be revolutionary. Since silicon is approaching its fundamental materials science limits, a new platform would be the only solution. Can molecular electronics be the answer Many think so.
