Saturated Oxygen

Another example is dissolved oxygen (DO). The amount of DO water can hold at saturation is affected by both temperature and salinity. The warmer and/or saline the water, the lower the saturation DO level. Oxygen saturation is also affected by atmospheric pressure. The saturation oxygen level decreases as elevation increases. [Pg.20]

Fig. 8. The evolution of stoichiometric quantities of carbon dioxide formed from the total photorninerali2ation of 100 ppm of creosote in water under a saturated oxygen atmosphere. A 25-mL sample having 75.5 wt % C was used. The dashed line corresponds to the expected stoichiometric quantity of CO2. Fig. 8. Oxazolo[3,4-tf]pyridines 153, thiazolo[3,4- ]pyridines 155, and their fully saturated derivatives 154 and 156 were discussed in CHEC(1984) <1984CHEC(6)613> and CHEC-II(1996) <1996CHEC-II(8)249> very little information was available on the thiazolo[3,4- ]pyridine ring system while most of the information concerned the fully saturated oxygenated parent, oxazolo[3,4- ]pyridines. Careful examination of the literature clearly indicated that the situation has not changed much almost no references were reported on thiazolo[3,4-tf]pyridines and most of the work done in the last decade concerns the synthesis and reactivity of hexahydro-oxazolo[2,3-tf]pyridines 154. Therefore, this chapter will briefly describe the new reactions of fully conjugated systems and will focus on the partially/completely saturated derivatives (Scheme 45). [Pg.444]

Such n-donor relaxation is of little importance in saturated oxygen compounds such as alcohols and ethers. [Pg.166]

The severity of these problems is quite sensitive to the nature of the particular organic, as expected, and likely to the particular sampling configuration and conditions as well. For example, Calogirou et al. (1997) showed that saturated oxygenated terpenes adsorbed on Tenax were not affected by the presence of 100 ppb 03 whereas as much as 80-90% of the most reactive, unsaturated compounds reacted. Indeed, no a-terpinene was observed when ozone was present. On the other hand, Koppmann et al. (1995) report no significant interference problems with 03 for the C2-C4 hydrocarbons which were sampled using a heated stainless steel inlet line, which destroys as much as half of the initial ozone, and then cryotrapped. [Pg.588]

The vapor pressure of water at 80°C is 355 torr. A 100-mL vessel contained water-saturated oxygen at 80°C, the total gas pressure being 760 torr. The contents of the vessel were pumped into a 50-mL vessel at the same temperature. Assuming no condensation, (a) What were the partial pressures of oxygen and of the water vapor (b) What was the total pressure in the final equilibrium state ... [Pg.76]

Some of the most important saturated oxygen heterocycles are the sugars. Glucose is a cyclic hemiacetal—a pentasubstituted tetrahydropyran if you like—whose major conformation in solution is shown on the right. [Pg.1129]
