Satellite contributions

Conclusions satellite must be fairly large only one satellite contributes at the solar radius the age structure remains a problem (i.e. that very old thin disk stars are predicted and not observed, so far )... [Pg.19]

For an oriented sample with a uniform director orientation the 23Na NMR spectrum at a weak radiofrequency field thus consists of three equally spaced peaks. The relative magnitude of the three resonance lines is governed by the transition probabilities between the different energy levels. It turns out (9) that the central line contributes 40% of the total intensity while each of the satellites contributes 30%. The deuteron NMR spectrum consists of two equally intense peaks. [Pg.132]

Kjj, but where the first term allows for control via the interference between the An and A2 terms. The two remaining terms, proportional to An and A22, are uncontrolled satellite contributions. [Pg.153]

Figure 3.10 Cis (left panel) and Ols (right panel) XPS spectra of K(tf - l/3)/Ag(lll) (bare), exposed to saturation coverage of COj, (A, 1 and 2), and pre-exposed co 0.35 L of Oj (B, 1 and 2) and pre-exposed to 1 L of water (C, 1 and 2) prior to saturation exposure COj. The satellite contributions (at the energies shown by arrows in the figure) were not substracted from the measured spectra. For all these experiments, the dosings were performed at 223 K and che spectra were recorded at 263 K. Further, because of the variation of long range C-H couplings and multiplicities, the extent of incorporation of satellite contributions within the line-width cutoff ranges will vary from group to group. Solvents often contain trace amounts of impurities, especially water, and can cause overlap problems, as can their isotopic satellites. [Pg.3266]

The efforts of the experts from Pivdenny have made it possible for Ukraine to become firmly established in the first three of space powers (after USA and Russia). More than 400 earth satellites developed in Pivdenny have been in space In recent years experts have developed the unique camer-rockets Zenith and Cyclone, capable of taking 4 and 14 tons into orbit, respectively. No other carrier-rockets of this type exist anywhere in the world, so they were selected for the international project Sea Start and Globalstar The NDT experts from Pivdenny have made a great contribution to these development, as practically all the parts and components of the carrier-rockets are subjected to thorough control. [Pg.970]

Subsequently, basic scientific research made great contributions to our nation s economic strength and its security. Some wonderful examples are described in a series of publications called Beyond Discovery The Path from Research to Human Benefit produced by the National Academies. Each brochnre chronicles some discovery in basic science and how it has had applications beyond what anybody could have imagined. Often as a side benefit, many new products emerged from federal government support (for example, communications satellites) and a series of new discoveries was made. [Pg.73]
