Fluorinated biphenyls have been incorporated into numerous Hquid crystal stmctures as attested by patents and pubHcations from the following organizations E. Merck GmbH (257,258) Sharp (258) Hoffmann-LaRoche (259) Kanto Chemical (260) U.K. Defence Secretariat (261) Dainippon (262) Chisso (263) Sanyo Chemical (264) and the University of Hull (265). Seiko Epson has also patented fluorinated terphenyls for Hquid crystal appHcations (266). [Pg.328]

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Tonen Corp., and Sanyo Electric Co. are participating in the program. This effort is in its early stages and is concentrating on cell components and small cell development. [Pg.585]

As of this writing, there is Httle commercialization of advanced battery systems. Small rechargeable lithium button cells have been commercialized, however, by Sanyo, Matsushita (Panasonic), and Toshiba. These cells are intended for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) use in appHcations such as memory backup and are not available to the general consumer. [Pg.587]

Some of the principal Japanese producers of benzene are Mitsubishi Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Nippon Steel Chemical Co., Ltd., Sanyo Petrochemical Ltd., and Idemitsu Kosan Ltd. Until 1967, the main source of Japanese benzene was coal-based. Today, approximately 40—45% of benzene production in Japan is based on pyrolysis gasoline (74), about 40% catalytic reformate, and the remainder coke oven light oil and thermal hydrodealkylation. [Pg.44]

Graphitic carbon is now used as the anode material in lithium-ion batteries produced by Moli Energy (1990) Ltd., Matsushita, Sanyo and A+T battery. It is important to understand how the structures and properties of graphitic carbons affect the intercalation of lithium within them. [Pg.353]

Focusing on the concept of the completely sealed system, the Sanyo Electric Co. developed sealed-type nickel-cadmium batteries in 1961. This type of battery enjoys a wide application range that is still expanding a large variety of nickel-cadmium batteries has been developed to meet user needs ranging from low-current uses like emergency power sources and semiconductor memories to high-power applications such as cordless drills. [Pg.23]

Much of this study was conducted on LaNi5-based alloys [13-20] and TiNir-based alloys [21-23], Sanyo Electric, Matsushita Battery and most other battery manufacturers have been using LaNi5-based rare earth-nickel-type alloys [24,... [Pg.28]

Figure 20 shows the charge-discharge characteristics of the AA-size nickel-metal hydride battery in comparison with the nickel-cadmium battery produced by Sanyo Electric. Its capacity density is 1.5 to 1.8 higher than that of nickel-cadmium batteries. [Pg.30]
