Safety policy statement action communication

Once you developed your policy, it then must be communicated. This is one of the things that we often forget. However, a successful company makes sure that workplace safety is integrated into all functional areas of the operation, for example, production, sales, and quality. If your policy statement makes this clear, it will be easier for employees to choose the correct actions when any conflict arises between safety and other functions. After you have conducted the employee and supervisor interviews, you now have a sense of the direction of the safety process. Interviews with the upper management should focus on their level of participation and commitment to the safety process. Ask them how the policy statement was created, and how the statement is communicated to all employees. For example, ask what information management receives about safety activities, and what action is taken based on the result of the information. Ask how management s commitment to safety is demonstrated to the employees. Ask what level of employee participation is used. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Many companies have set a moral standard for their businesses that defines responsibilities to their stakeholders. These companies make a commitment to those they serve, including employees, customers, communities and others. Corporate Social Responsibility refers to operating a business in a maimer that accounts for the social and environmental impact created by the business. Often CSR policies include commitments to the safety and health of workers, customers and commuiuties, and action plans to implement them.
