Rotating head

The mechanical equipment used in room-and-pikar underground mining usuaky involves a series of specific operations with continuous mining equipment. Continuous miners use rotating heads equipped with bits to pick or cut through the coal without blasting and load it into a shuttle car for conveying to a belt system. [Pg.230]

Kelly. Because of its greater seal effectiveness within the rotating head, a hexagonal rather than a square kelly should be used in air (or gas) drilling operations. [Pg.846]

Use the 3- in. stripper rubber in the rotating head to strip over the 4- in. drill collars until the drill bit is above the blind rams (but below the stripper rubber in the rotating head). [Pg.850]

Close the blind rams, open the rotating head to release the 3 in. stripper rubber, pull the rotating table bushings and raise the last joint of drill collar, remove the bit, and lay this Joint down (remove the 3in. stripper rubber from this drill collar Joint for later use). [Pg.851]

With the 3 in. pipe rams closed on the 3 in. drill pipe, open rotating head and pull the rotary bushings. While stripping with the pipe rams, raise the liner string (with the 3 in. drill pipe) until the 4 in. stripper rubber and the drill pipe joint it is on are above the rotary table. Replace the rotary table bushings and, using the rotary slips, remove this drill pipe Joint with the 4 in. stripper rubber (the 4 in. stripper rubber can be removed from this joint later). [Pg.852]

Remove the rotary bushings and, while stripping with the pipe rams, lower the liner string until the 3 in. stripper rubber is in the rotating head. Close the rotating head to secure the 3 in. stripper rubber. [Pg.852]

Rig Practice. All drilling fluids should be contained in the mud pits or reserve pit. The cellar should have a conduit linking it to the reserve pit such that accumulation of mud from connections does not spread over the location. In the case of toxic mud, a bell should be located beneath the rotary table to direct such fluids back into the drilling nipple or into the mud pit in the case of a rotating head. The use of a mud bucket is also recommended in situations where the pipe can not be shook dry. [Pg.1353]

Various theories have been introduced to explain the relative movemoit. Huxley proposed that the myosin head changed its orientation after binding to actin (die "rotating-head" model). According to the helix-coil transition, the normally o-helical coiled-coil structure "melts" to a random coil conformation, which implies a reduction in length. Movements of the myosin tails, as well as conformation changes of the actin have also been considered. It now seems clear, however, that the force production takes place in or very near the myosin heads [22]. Furthermore, among the three different states of myosin - empty actin site, ATP bound to the actin site and ADP-Pi boimd to die actin site - aU of which can... [Pg.356]

It is possible to classify all existing LT models in two families, depending on the origin of the laser beam from the rotating head of the LT or in the column holder with a mirror reflector in the rotating head. [Pg.64]

Laser Tracker with beam source in the rotating head. This model is typical of API and FARO and determination of their geometric errors has been systematized by Muralikrishnan et al. [3] and Hughes et al. [4]. According to the proposed model, calibration corrections are based on 15 parameters, each representing the influence of a particular geometric error in the overall error of the equipment ... [Pg.64]

In Japan, a DFT has been developed. The DFT (Figure 16.19) is a static device operating on the rotating-head rubber-slider principle. [Pg.730]
