Rotating grading cylinder

Although the Fourdrinier machine is used for making almost all grades of paper and board, other designs are sometimes more advantageous. The cylinder machine, invented at about the same time as the Fourdrinier, consists of a rotating cylindrical mold covered with a wire screen and partially submerged in a vat. The stock flows into the vat, and a mat is formed on the cylinder under a hydraulic head difference between the stock level in the vat and the white-water level inside the cylinder. The... [Pg.1207]

Reactor. Figure 1 shows a cross-sectional view of the aluminum alloy reactor. The rotating cylinder, 7, is 18 in. long by 10 in. diara., and the annular space, 6, (approx. 0.3 in. wide) is uniformly filled with a 0.75% Pt on AI2O3 reforming catalyst crushed and graded up to 40 to 60 mesh. Circular Teflon rings, 4,... [Pg.297]

Particles entering at the bottom will in general follow an expanding helical path the heavier particles are separated near the inlet to the rotating cylinder and the finer ones graded in smallness until the suspension reaches the overflow weir at the top. At this point fines are cut off which have not had time to reach the cylinder wall, or to pass through any outlet especially provided for them along the wall. [Pg.36]

While most calcium aluminate cements are produced from limestone and alumina (see section 9.5), high purity, refractory-grade material is made by at least one producer using ground quicklime as the source of calcium. The quicklime and alumina are blended and fed to a rotary kiln, where they sinter and melt at over 1500 °C. The molten calcium aluminate (about 70 % AI2O3 and 28 % CaO) is cooled in a rotating cylinder to produce a clinker, which is subsequently ground to substantially less than 90 pm [32.6]. [Pg.371]

The test measures the loss of material from standard specimens when cylindrical specimens, approximately 30 mm in diameter and 25 mm in height, of compacted material are placed in water-filled cylinders that are rotated end over end in a suitable device (a specially build mechanical shaker). The test uses mixtures for slurry surfacing using the materials used for producing slurry surfacing but made to a standard grading and binder content prepared at room temperature. [Pg.315]

Rotating Cylinders Ball mills, with metallic balls of uniform or graded size. Pebble mills, with ceramic balls. Rod mills, with metal rods nearly as long as the cylinder. Tube mills, with bnger cylinders sometimes divided into compartments. Low productivity versatile. Can handle highly abrasive material (with increased maintenance cost). [Pg.165]

Electrowinning for recovering a metal M, such as Cu, Ni, Zn, Ti, Pb, etc. from their low-grade ores. The metal is recovered by electrodeposition in the form of cathodes, which are normally rectangular shapes (plates). If rotating cylinders and disks are used, the final electrodeposition product can be in the form of ribbons and powders, respectively. [Pg.189]

Electrodes. The electrodes were glassy carbon discs, 3mm in diameter (V-10 grade vitreous caibon from Atomergic). Each glassy carbon rod was encased in a teflon cylinder wifli a deaerated slow setting epoxy (Armstrong) and the cylinder was fitted on an AFMSRX rotator (Pine Instruments). [Pg.308]

Special self-adhesive grades of polyethylene have been formulated for use in the rotational lining process and are used for preventing corrosion of the cylinder walls internally. [Pg.48]
