Roots regeneration

Three types of root regeneration occur in wetland plants (Hook, 1984). These are... 

Soil water roots These are formed by root regeneration within the soil. This occurs after die-off of the original roots on flooding and regeneration of secondary roots.

II) can markedly promote shoot regeneration, whereas xanthine (IV) does not. Auxin, on the other hand, promotes root regeneration. Similar results were found by several other authors - . There are, however, certain differences among the different materials, since, for instance, oxidized purines (IV, V), pyrimidines (VI, VII) or purine ribosides (X) were sometimes effective, sometimes not.

In the periphery PROG and PREG may well have an important trophic action since their production in Schwann cells has been shown to result in increased myelin synthesis in regenerating rat sciatic nerve and cultured dorsal root ganglia (see Koenig et al. 1995). 

The word amphibolic is often applied to those metabolic sequences that are part of a catabolic cycle and at the same time are involved in a biosynthetic (anabolic) pathway. Another term, anaplerotic, is sometimes used to describe pathways for the synthesis of regenerating substrates. This word, which was suggested by H. L. Komberg, comes from a Greek root meaning "filling up."80... 

Treatment of seborrheic alopecia with 1- chloromethyl)- and 1-ethoxysilatrane liniments not only strengthened the roots of the remaining hair, but caused adequate regeneration of lost hair in 76.9% of the patients.
