In a given Davidson iteration, one loops over pairs of lanes and compares their respective internal occupations, taking note of those orbitals with distinctive occupations. There are only six possibilities for relative occupations 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1, and the opposite cases for higher right-hand occupation. Two arrays are defined which contain, respectively, the number of the internal orbital and which of the above six cases describes the occupation relationship. One can find a maximum of four orbital mismatches, the details of which are recorded in the above two arrays.
