Tilted ridge

Pd(110), on the other hand, implies a species with the HCCH plane essentially perpendicular to the (110) surface. The latter spectrum has also a prominent soft rCH mode at 2820 cm"1, indicating an interaction between one of the CH bonds and a surface metal atom. The suggested structure—an HCCH plane perpendicular to an M-M bond of the ridge but tilted down toward the bottom of the trough (30)—is consistent with these spectroscopic criteria. 

NNE-SSW-trending ridge first developed at reservoir level during the Mid-Eocene in response to differential compaction over the Madeleine Trend (Fig. 22a). From the Mid-Miocene onwards, the incipient drape structure began to gently tilt towards the northeast and relief increased (Fig. 22b). By the Late Miocene, the northerly tilt and continued differential compaction had produced a time closure at reservoir level, coinciding with the present-day occurrence of the high-amplitude zone...

Studies of deformations of an ice cover, its failure, natural ridging and rafting are of vital importance to ice forecasting, navigation and the safety of offshore structures. Waves as a mechanism of transfer of deformation energy play a part on the local scale and mesoscale. In this paper, we discuss the spectral structure of cyclic deformations of the ice floe. We mainly relied on the Sea Ice Mechanics Initiative (SIMI) field experiment, the Beaufort Sea, 1993-94. Of special interest were the data from the West FallWinter camp (75°N, 142°W ) set up on a 2.1 m thick multi-year ice floe. Tilt-meters, BP-Delta strainmeters and three-axis inertial accelerometers were applied in keeping the record (Fig 1).
