Retail sales

In 1989 the aerosol industry in the United States consisted of about 250 companies that ranged from propellant, valve, and overcap, manufacturers to contract product fillers and product marketers. The industry employed over 50,000 people in 1989 and retail sales amounted to over 10 biUion. [Pg.351]

According to U.S. Census Data, the value of polishing preparations and related products shipped from U.S. factories in 1987 was 798 million in factory sales, a 23% increase from 1982 (67). These sales included 155.3 million in furniture poHsh, 245.2 million in floor poHsh, 185.1 million in automotive poHsh, 81.1 million in metal poHsh, and 42.8 million in shoe poHsh. Industry estimates for retail sales as of 1994 involving furniture poHsh were that this category remained flat at 197 million (68). Retail shoe poHsh sales remained constant at 200 million household floor poHsh sales declined about 7% in 1993, whereas institutional floor wax and poHsh sales have grown at an aimual rate of 2—2.5% to 370 million (69). In 1992 and 1993, automotive poHsh sales increased about 40% a year with the advent of colored car poHshes to 240 million, but were flat in 1994. [Pg.211]

Sweden. In Sweden strict regulations of beverage consumption are more or less similar to those in Norway. Retail sales of normal beers (ale 4.3 vol %) and spirits are possible through government controlled stores (Systembolaget AB) only. The per capita consumption of beer was 51.4 L in 1987. [Pg.29]

Canada. The two predominant beer types are lager and ale. The preference for ale has decreased considerably over the years, from 60% in 1960 to 34% in 1984. The amounts produced of the porters and stouts have decreased also, from 1% to 0.02%. The approach to control the consumption of beer and other beverages is somewhat different in the provinces, especially as far as the retail sales are concerned (24). The per capita consumption was 82 L in 1987 and output increased from 20.8 x 10 hL in 1975 to 23.8 x 10 hL in 1988. [Pg.29]

Proprietary solvents may be repackaged for retail, wholesale, and industrial sales. Retail sales of special industrial solvents are prohibited. Agents may repackage special industrial solvents for wholesale and industrial sales, but only in dmm quantities and with the producer s label. Sales reported for 2004 in the United States, which spends more per capita and absolutely on pharmaceuticals than does any other country, amounted to only 200 billion, which is about 1.7% of U.S. gross domestic product (GDP in that year, or 11.1% of total U.S. health spending Heffler et al. 2005). Assuming that drug manufacturers received about 75% of total retail sales and that their net after-tax proht margin was 16% on sales Fortune 2005), their after-tax profits of about 24 billion in 2004 amounted to only 0.20% of U.S. GDP in that year, and about 1.3% of total U.S. national health spending. [Pg.25]
