Requirements stripping

When higher lean glycol concentrations are required, stripping gas can be added to the reboiler, or the reboiler and still column can be operated at a vacuum. 

The advantages of this type of continuous process over batch or continuous distillation in a still pot include low residence time (1-2 minutes) and a small difference between the vapor temperature and the liquid film temperature. The temperature of the glycerine can be tightly controlled, thereby reducing the formation of odor, color, and other impurities. This system does not require stripping... 

One way to remove this inefficiency is done where the side draw from the main column is split first and returned as sub-cooled stream while the other stream is stripped in the side stripper. Therefore, the required stripping steam is reduced tremendously as the feed is reduced. The total savings in operating cost are 40,000/ for this simple modification in the piping connections. Another example of inefficiency is mixing two vapour streams with a big difference in their composition causes this inefficiency. The returned vapour from the KE side stripper is mixed with the vapour inside the main column which resulting in mixing losses. 

A yield improvement option was identified from the hydrocracking unit (HCU) as a part of the energy optimization project. It was found that a large amount of diesel was lost into the unconverted oil due to poor fractionation efficiency in the main fractionators. To recover this lost diesel with an estimated value of 12 MM/year, a new stripper column will be installed. The stripper column will require stripping LP steam of 150t/day costing 1.0 MM per year. The cost for related piping would be estimated as part of HCU revamp project... 

HCU is expected to be revamped to recover extra diesel product. In this case, a stripper column will be installed, which requires stripping LP steam of 150 t/day. This extra LP steam can be completely satisfied by use of LP dump. Thus, there is no extra requirement from boilers. This result is in sharp contrast with that from the stand-alone assessment (Table 20.1), which indicates the cost of 1.0MM/year for supplying this 150 t/day of LP steam. 

Amidoamine-based amphoterics made with excess volatile amine require stripping, recovery, recycling or disposal of impure distillate streams, and process control to ensure very low levels of residual volatile amine in the intermediate. 

Consumer and Office Tape. Clear, cellulose acetate tape is widely used as a general-purpose office tape. Paper tapes of all types provide hand tearability and ease of printing, but are generally not used for applications where high strength is required. Strip coated labels are used as repositionable notes. 

Decorative anodised aluminium or aluminium alloys are, as such, not suitable for adhesive bonding as they have been sealed these types of substrate require stripping prior to use. Stripping is sometimes accomplished by abrasive blasting but this sort of treatment is not recommended. The anodic oxide film is best removed by immersion in the chromic-sulphuric acid solution given above [22,23].
