Requirements in OSHA Safety Standards

Some OSHA safety standards require signs, tags or markings to provide information on means of egress, exits, fire extinguishers, compressed gas cylinders and standpipe and hose fire-fighting equipment. 

Certain load markings also are mandatory for cranes, derricks, powered industrial trucks and powered platforms. 

Other standards call for the indentification of containers or systems for potentially hazardous materials such as bulk oxygen, gaseous and liquid hydrogen, and anhydrous ammonia. Hazard warning information may also appear on the container or system. For example, a label for a gaseous or liquid hydrogen system would require the following text
