Hardware requirements — The system controller responsible for synchronizing the events is defined as LC System 1. It requires at least two time event outputs to trigger the injection of LC System 2 and start MS data collection. If MS fails, the injection of LC System 1 should be inhibited. Autosampler with ready-in, alarm-in, and stop inputs indicate capability to be stopped remotely. The autosampler of LC System 2 must be able to prepare a sample before the run from LC System 1 is finished and hold the sample in the injector loop until an injection signal is received. A manual injection input devices indicates that the autosampler can perform the required function. [Pg.131]

In 1985, 1 finally took the county public health psychiatrist s recommendation to try Desipramine, an ostensibly mild tricyclic antidepressant. I took tiny dot doses, and for a month or so I felt encouraged except for intense muscle tension and clenching. The psychiatrist said it was not remotely possible that this response was related to the medication. I took a low dose for four more months before throwing them out. The side effects had escalated horribly, and become what I later learned are called tardive dyskinesia and tardive dystonia. Subsequently, chemical and electromagnetic field exposures, feeling compromised or ashamed, or stress can trigger uncontrollable movement, hyperactivity, rigid posture and then, frequently, paralysis. [Pg.91]

Alarm systems can be integrated with fire detection systems, intrusion detection systems (IDSs), access control systems, or closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, so that these systems automatically respond when the alarm is triggered. For example, a smoke detector alarm can be set up to automatically notify the fire department when smoke is detected, or an intrusion alarm can automatically trigger cameras to turn on in a remote location so that personnel can monitor that location. [Pg.167]

Propellant compositions are also used in numerous "gas generator" devices, where the production of gas pressure is used to drive pistons, trigger switches, eject pilots from aircraft, and perform an assortment of other critical functions. The military and the aerospace industry use many of these items, which can be designed to function rapidly and can be initiated remotely. [Pg.81]

Fig. 49. (a) Local potential drop across the double layer as a function of position and time during a remotely induced transition in the bistable regime of the oxidation of formic acid on a Pt ring electrode. The RE was positioned close to the WE. At the position marked by the arrows the potential was disturbed locally toward positive values. The ring position gives the electrode number of (b). (b) Set-up for measurements used to obtain the data of (a). The outside potential probes serve to measure the local potential the central one serves as the reference electrode. At position 12 is a trigger electrode. (This figure was provided by courtesy of P. Strasser and M. Eiswirth see also Ref. [36].)... [Pg.173]
