Although even lower WF can be achieved with, e.g., Yb (0 = 2.4 eV), the low reflectivity index of the latter makes it less suitable for OLED applications. The active metal Ca (0 = 2.60 eV) often has to be accompanied with other metals such as Al to increase the device lifetime. It is worth noting that the WF of the metals can be affected by their purity, their deposition method, and the surface structure, and the crystal orientation of the deposited films. [Pg.303]

Fig. 13a and b. Intensity contour maps around the 5.9-nm and 5.1-nm actin layer lines (indicated by arrows) a resting state b contracting state. Z is the reciprocal-space axial coordinate from the equator. M5 to M9 are myosin meridional reflections indexed to the fifth to ninth orders of a 42.9-nm repeat, (c) intensity profiles (in arbitrary units) of the 5.9- and 5.1-nm actin reflections. Dashed curves, resting state solid curves, contracting state. Intensity distributions were measured by scanning the intensity data perpendicular to the layer lines at intervals of 0.4 mm. The area of the peak above the background was adopted as an integrated intensity and plotted as a function of the reciprocal coordinate (R) from the meridian... [Pg.134]

The SPRi reader was from Toyobo (Japan). The interactions pro-dnce changes in the reflectivity indexes near the gold surface, which result in the changes of the reflectivity recorded by a CCD camera as gray-level contrasts. [Pg.221]

DNA arranges into rectangular superlattice in the low-temperature gel phase of saturated cationic lipids [83, 84]. This is evidenced by two or three diffuse reflections in addition to the set of lamellar reflections these are attributed to DNA ordering both within the layer and across the lipid bilayers, from one DNA layer to another. These reflections index on a centered rectangular lattice. Noteworthy, DNA does not affect the gel-liquid crystalline transition temperatures of the lipoplexes [16, 19, 84]. This transition is associated with loss of the DNA inter-lamellar correlation. [Pg.72]

The X-ray diffraction pattern obtained from the dry, annealed fibre (see Materials and Methods) is shown in Figure 3. The reflections index on a hexagonal unit cell with dimensions a = b = 1.438 nm, c (fibre axis) = 0.582 nm with meridional reflections occurring only on layer lines with 1 = 2 n, where n is an integer. These constraints on the Miller indices hkl are in accordance with... [Pg.390]

Microstructures of the two siliconized silicon carbide materials, (a) SiC-C and (b) SiC-S, observed with reflected light under an optical microscope, showing different reflective indexes between Si (light) and SiC (dark). [Pg.539]

Reflective index was studied by abbe refractometer, and result is 1.53 at 589 nm, and its birefringence is 0.0001, which indicate that this film is not anisotropic. And the film is insulant, since its volume resisitivity is 1 x 10 Qcm, and its dielectric constant is 2.8. [Pg.210]

The effective index method can provide information on the optical field distribution for different polarizations and the effective reflective index of the light in waveguides. The waveguide structure is limited to consist of three layos as in this example air, silicon, and Si02 denoted Layer I, Layer n, and Layer in, respectively. The refi-active index of Layer I ( ) and Layer III ( j) should be less flian that of Layer II (r>2). The light is guided in Layer II where the thickness is W. [Pg.208]

FIGURE 3.15. An X-ray diffraction photograph of the lac repressor protein with some Bragg reflections indexed (hkl). Note the intensity variation among different Bragg reflections. Unit cell dimensions are a = 164, b = 162, c = 75 A, / = 125°. In the indexing, h is chosen to point horizontally to the right, and k is vertical and points up. [Pg.94]

When a powder diffraction pattern contains a few weak impurity reflections, indexing of all Bragg peaks may be impossible. Generally, all unindexed peaks should be explained by identifying impurity phase(s) or by shape anomalies when compared to the main phase. [Pg.407]

Second best solution according to the figure of merit. The best FOM is 39.4 with half the unit cell volume and only 17 of 20 reflections indexed also see solution No. 3. [Pg.459]

Furthermore, half-ellipsoid voxels and half-cylindrical rod shapes were fabricated by TP polymerization where a single voxel was obtained by a laser power of 50 pW and an exposure time of 0.5 s [135]. The half-cylindrical rod shapes based on poly(methylmethacrylate) possess a higher reflective index compared to air of about 0.5. Hence, this material can be used as waveguide material. The channel waveguide fabricated using a scanning speed of 40 pm/s and an input laser power of 500 pW of a femtosecond laser beam with a 0.65 NA microscope objective exhibits a width of 2 pm. In a similar way, a grating was made with 10 lines per 50 pm [135]. [Pg.309]

In a diffraction experiment the crystal reflection coordinates (cj), p) are determined by the reflection index (h) while the sample coordinates (ij/, y) are determined by the orientation of the sample on the diffractometer. This formulation assumes that the probability surface is smooth and can be described by a sum of spherical harmonic terms, kfl and kjf, that depend on h and sample orientation, respectively, to some maximum harmonic order, L (ref. 25). The coefficients Cf" then determine the strength and details of the texture. Notably, only the even order, L = 2n, terms in these harmonic sums affect the intensity of Bragg reflections the odd order terms in the ODF are invisible to diffraction. [Pg.85]
