Recyclate Stabilizer Systems

Lozano and co-workers reported an interesting stabilization effect of IL for lipase-catalyzed reaction the authors discovered that the presence of an appropriate substrate was essential for stabilization of enzyme in an IL solvent. The half lifetime of native CAL was only 3.2 h in [emim][PFg] solvent, while it lengthened remarkably to 7500 h in the presence of the substrate. The authors succeeded in demonstrating an efficient lipase-recyclable use system based on SCCO2 solvent (Fig. 9). - ... [Pg.10]

The oxidation of N ADH has been mediated with chemically modified electrodes whose surface contains synthetic electron transfer mediators. The reduced form of the mediator is detected as it is recycled electrochemically. Systems based on quinones 173-175) dopamine chloranil 3-P-napthoyl-Nile Blue phenazine metho-sulphatemeldola blue and similar phenoxazineshave been described. Conducting salt electrodes consisting of the radical salt of 7,7,8,8-trtra-cyanoquinodimethane and the N-methylphenazium ion have been reported to show catalytic effects The main drawback to this approach is the limited stability... [Pg.66]

Because (1 + r — rC) < 1, it is possible to operate the system at dilution rates greater than the maximum growth rate. It is this stability imparted by the cell recycle fermentor system that makes it useful, especially in waste treatment applications. [Pg.1324]

Description Butenes enter the Dimersol-X process, which comprises three sections. In the reactor section, dimerization takes place in multiple liquid-phase reactors (1) using homogeneous catalysis and an efficient recycle mixing system. The catalyst is generated in situ by the reaction of components injected in the recycle loop. The catalyst in the reactor effluent is deactivated in the neutralization section and separated (2). The stabilization section (3) separates unreacted olefin monomer and saturates from product dimers while the second column (4) separates the octenes. A third column can be added to separate dodecenes. [Pg.116]

In recent years, metal-free stabilizer systems have been developed because of environmental concerns of traditional lead and tin stabilizers. Chemically regarded nitrogen-based molecules are used, for example, P-aminocrotonates, dihydropyrimidines [15], trialkanolamines, as well as their reaction products and salts, for example, the perchlorate salt [16], etc. (Fig. 11.11). Owing to their good compatibility with other stabilizers, organic-based stabilizers are predestinated to be used in PVC recycling in case restabilization is needed [17]. [Pg.232]

A part of the stabilizer will be consumed during processing and sometimes during the application period. Therefore the efficiency of the stabilizer system is remarkably reduced. That makes it necessary to get information about the residual stability of PVC articles before they can be recycled. [Pg.27]

An efficient stabilizing action is contributed by the lead compound (which is a typical stabilizer of PVC) and a mixture of antioxidants and lubricants with lead salt. With these stabilizing systems, about 80% of the initial undegraded PVC has been measured in the recycled material. [Pg.98]

The above results suggest that an appropriate stabilizing system should be used to improve properties of the recycled material and in particular to avoid the degradation of PVC and HCl evolution. HCl can be entrapped in the material, reducing its resistance and contributing to the pollution of environment. [Pg.101]

A successful stabilizer system for recyclates has to take the special requirements discussed above into consideration. Predamage is introduced into the recy-clate during processing and the lifetime of the plastic article and the fluctuating composition of recyclates including the presence of contaminants is responsible... [Pg.553]

Heat stabilizers can also play a role in recycling thermoplastics, when material is again subjected to heat. Some stabilizer systems introduced into the original compound retain their effectiveness through subsequent re-processing, but there may be a need to restabilize waste plastics for more efficient recycling. [Pg.554]

Time-Delay Compensation Time delays are a common occurrence in the process industries because of the presence of recycle loops, fluid-flow distance lags, and dead time in composition measurements resulting from use of chromatographic analysis. The presence of a time delay in a process severely hmits the performance of a conventional PID control system, reducing the stability margin of the closed-loop control system. Consequently, the controller gain must be reduced below that which could be used for a process without delay. Thus, the response of the closed-loop system will be sluggish compared to that of the system with no time delay. [Pg.733]
