Rearing medium

Incubate the injected embryos in the system water supplemented with an antifungal agent, methylene blue (-0.0001 %), in Petri dishes at 28.5 °C. At 10-12 h post-fertilization, remove dead and malformed embryos and transfer healthy embryos to l/3x Ringer s solution containing PTU and antibiotics (rearing medium) to inhibit pigment formation and bacterial growth. [Pg.86]

Anesthetize several larvae at 3 days post-fertilization (dpf) see Note 6) by adding 1/25 volume of tricaine stock solution to 1 volume of rearing medium. Do not treat a large number of larvae at the same time to prevent larvae from being over-anesthetized. [Pg.87]

Pipette a droplet of rearing medium onto the embedded larva and carefully remove it from methylcellulose (or agarose). If the larva carries a few labeled neurons, save it in fresh rearing medium in a well of 24-well plate. Repeat these steps and sort the larvae carrying a few labeled neurons for later experiments. [Pg.87]

Current supply for medium-sized ships is provided by an instrument in the engine control room or the engine room. With large ships, the rectifier should be installed near the anodes so that only cables of small cross-section are required. Formerly, in such cases two protection units independent of each other were used in the engine room and the forecastle. Meanwhile, the anodes were installed in the rear quarter of the ship, even with large tankers, and the poor current distribution had to be tolerated. [Pg.404]

Temeyer tested the toxicity of miconazole and six other antifungal agents and solvents for use in horn fly larval rearing or bioassays. Each of which appeared to be potentially useful in bovine fecal medium [99],... [Pg.56]

This reaction proceeds via the transition state illustrated in Fig. 10.2. An Sn2 reaction (second order nucleophilic substitution) in the rate limiting step involves the attack of the nucleophilic reagent on the rear of the (usually carbon) atom to which the leaving group is attached. The rate is thus proportional to both the concentration of nucleophile and substrate and is therefore second order. On the other hand, in an SnI reaction the rate limiting step ordinarily involves the first order formation of an active intermediate (a carbonium ion or partial carbonium ion, for example,) followed by a much more rapid conversion to product. A sampling of a and 3 2° deuterium isotope effects on some SnI and Sn2 solvolysis reactions (i.e. a reaction between the substrate and the solvent medium) is shown in Table 10.2. The... [Pg.320]

In humans and other mammals, the sense of smell begins when we inhale some odorant through our nose. The inhaled air enters the nasal cavity where it encounters a large number of olfactory neurons located in the nasal epithelium associated with bony structures located at the rear of this cavity. These bony structures are known as turbinates. In a human, these turbinates create a surface area of a few square inches. In a medium-size dog, in contrast, the turbinates have a surface area several times larger. It is small wonder that dogs have a more acute sense of smell than we do. [Pg.354]

The same desirable food species, reinhardti. introduces another problem in animal cultures. When reinhardti is reared in algal A-MS medium containing vitamin Bjj, a diet containing relativel oung such cells produces... [Pg.144]

Type 95 7-cm (70-mm) AP Ammo for iise in Type 94 Tank Gun contains proj filled with 170g of preformed, paper wrapped HE s Oshiyaku (qv) in forward portion and TNT in rear portion proplnt was 120g of 5-mm square grain (medium) (P 309)... [Pg.455]

An improved amphibious device was developed in the USA. It consisted of metal boxes filled with plastic foam and attached to the front, rear and sides of the tank in such a manner that they could be detached from the tank by the crew without getting out. The tank was propelled through the water at speeds up to 6 mph by simply driving the tanks in the normal manner. The advantages of this- system were that the tank turret was above water and the weapons could be fired if necessary on approaching the enemy shore. This device was used for light and medium tanks... [Pg.392]

Posterior segment. Externally, the posterior segment consists of the optic nerve and associated vasculature, and internally, it consists of the lens, vitreous, and rear ocular tissues.64 Vitreous is a colorless medium... [Pg.56]

Moisture. No moisture effect has been shown in vertebrates, but in insects it was noted that housefly larvae reared on diets containing 40% moisture had four times more activity for the epoxidation of heptachlor than did larvae reared in a similar medium saturated with water. [Pg.200]
