Reading time wasting

A slow world, blurred. Flaccid, long, tainted days. Work all week, spend the weekend in bed while time wasted away. No will no reason no desire, no energy no passion no point, no point in anything. Couldn t concentrate, couldn t focus, sometimes couldn t even read. Fogbound in the darkness of her polluted body. She ate meals full of tears. 

The first page of each chapter presents an index. A title-summary box for each section presents a short summary and memory jogger intended to be helpful for review. If you already know what the boxed terms mean and feel comfortable with them, don t bother to read the text section that follows—proceed until you find a heading you don t understand, and then read till you understand. The first rule (it may not really be the first rule, but it is a rule) is not to waste time reading things you already know.

People with poor mathematical skills often say (erroneously ) that taking away the infinity reading from both top and bottom is a waste of time because the two infinity concentration terms will cancel. Most wash solutions are 5 to 10% active ingredient dissolved in water. This means they are 90 to 95% water. Looking up the density of the solid reagents then, is a waste of time. The density of these solutions is very close to that of water. (10% NaOH has a specific gravity of 1.1089.)... 

Since admissions officers are assigned hundreds of essays to read, they spend just a few minutes on each one. Use every word wisely. Don t waste time introducing your essay, but rather jump right into it. A dynamic introduction draws the reader in immediately, and acts as a hook that makes your audience want to keep... 

Reading actively is probably the most important way to use your study time effectively. If you spend an hour passively reading and retaining little of what you have read, you have wasted that hour. If you take an hour and a half to actively read the same passage, that is time well spent. However, you will not only be learning new material you will also need methods to review what you have learned ... 

If we create a repository and make it too bulky, the chances of getting useful information actually decrease with time. So, there is this trade-off. . . Also, we are implementing many shorter life-cycle projects nowadays - 6 weeks to 3 months duration. Suppose someone searches the repository, gets three documents, takes 2 to 3 days to read them and then finds that they are not useful. This is a considerable waste of time. If this happens, this person might question the very utility of the repository and decide not to use it in the future. 

Safety glasses must be worn in the laboratory at all times. Material safety and data sheets should be read prior to the start of the experiment. All chemicals should be considered hazardous from a standpoint of flammability and toxicity. Appropriate safety gloves must be worn when using organic solvents so that no skin contact is permitted. Care must be taken to use organic solvents either in a well-ventilated area or in a hood. Avoid breathing the fumes or sources of electrical sparks. The GPC instrument, including solvent reservoir and waste container, should be vented to a fume hood or other exhaust system. 

I Read the entire question once or even a few times before trying to pick an answer. Decide exactly what the question is asking. Take notes and draw pictures on scratch paper. That way you won t waste time by going in the wrong direction. 

Exposure to isophorone may take place where you work or in very low concentrations at home. Because it is used in some inks, paints, lacquers, and adhesives, people who work with these products may be exposed to isophorone. Isophorone has been found in the drinking water of Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and New Orleans at amounts less than 10 parts of isophorone in 1 billion parts of water (10 ppb). In one instance (a screen print shop), isophorone was found in amounts as high as 26 parts in 1 million parts of air (26 ppm), but the usual amounts in the workplace are much lower. At this time, isophorone has been found in at least 9 out of 1177 National Priorities List (NPL) hazardous waste sites in the United States. Don t waste time reading choice a in Improving Sentences questions it merely repeats the original sentence. 

As with the multiple-choice questions, it s important that you study the directions for the essay as part of your preparations. You don t want to waste time reading them during the test. Official directions are at www.collegeboard.com. Either print them out, or copy them, and then study them. Here are some of the key points stressed in the directions ... 

If shims are really bad, you may be able to recall a recent shim file from the disk. Ideally, a spectrometer should be shimmed regularly (daily or weekly) by an expert, and these current shims should be saved. Rather than waste a lot of time trying to get home from someone else s / /-dimensional wanderings away from the optimum, you can just read the latest shim file and start from there. Of course, you will still need to adjust Z1 and Z2 because these change a great deal based on the sample volume, position, and polarity of the solvent. 

For example, suppose you are calculating your car s miles per gallon. It is a waste of time to measure the gas to hundredths of a gallon if your odometer can only read tenths of a mile. 

Get to know the test directions. If you are familiar with the directions ahead of time, you won t have to waste valuable test time reading them and trying to understand them. The format and directions used in the practice exams in this book are modeled on the ones you ll see on the actual SAT Chemistry exam.
