Jumping Right In

Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) has been used as a pain reliever since the start of the 20th century. Despite competition from newer products, worldwide consumption is about 70 million pounds per year. [Pg.63]

The last stq in the manufacture of acetylsalicylic acid is the reaction of salicylic acid with acetic anhydride  [Pg.63]
