Platinum vapour also has been observed to react with unsaturated compounds [286]. With propene and but-l-ene, compounds of undetermined structure are produced. Reaction with 1,5-cyclooctadiene produces b/s(l,5-cyclooctadiene) platinum(O), while reaction with allyl chloride yields the tetranuclear complex [PtCl(C3Hs)] 4. 

Co-condensation of iron vapour with 1,3-butadiene produces only a dark involatile residue, which could consist of chains of iron atoms bridged by butadiene ligands [287]. This residue will undergo reaction with other compounds to produce compounds of the form Fe(l,3-C4Hg)2L. Atoms of nickel have been reported to react with a wide variety of unsaturated hydrocarbons [290]. Co-condensation of nickel atoms and
