Rate of discharge

Most flow problems can be overcome by using a mass flow design if the mass flow pattern developed by the bin is not disturbed. Thus a properly designed feeder or discharger must be employed. A feeder is used whenever there is a requirement to transfer soflds at a controlled rate from the bin to a process or a tmck. A discharger is used when there is a need to discharge soflds, not control the rate of discharge. [Pg.557]

For heavy drain discharges of alkaline cells, there is no useful capacity after this point because the rate of discharge of the ZnMn204 is quite slow. But for lighter drain discharges, further reduction of the cathode is possible. The reaction mechanisms are not entirely clear, but there is some evidence for the formation of a final reaction product resembling hausmannite [1309-55-3] Mn O. ... [Pg.525]

Critical Flow Nozzle For a given set of upstream conditions, the rate of discharge of a gas from a nozzle will increase for a decrease in the absolute pressure ratio po/pi until the linear velocity in the throat reaches that of sound in the gas at that location. The value of po/pi for which the acoustic velocity is just attained is called the critical pressure ratio r. The actual pressure in the throat will not fall below even if a much lower pressure exists downstream. [Pg.892]

The application and use of deep-well turbine and submersible pumps, is extensive and a choice will depend upon the depth of liquid and the rate of discharge. In rocky areas, where the digging of larger well cavity is a difficult task, submersible pumps provide an easy alternative. Similarly, for higher heads and where only a small quantity of liquid is to be pumped, these pumps are preferred. We discuss below the characteristics of these motors and the application of these pumps. [Pg.171]

Table A. I provides, for a particular rate of discharge in GPM. the friction loss in pipes for every 100 feet of straight pipe length, reasonably smooth and free from incrustation. Table A. Plants, situations, and causes of overpressure tend to be dissimilar enough to discourage preparation of generalized calculation procedures for the rate of discharge. In lieu of a set procedure most of these problems can be solved satisfactorily by conservative simplification and analysis. It should be noted also that, by general assumption, two unrelated emergency conditions will not occur simultaneously. [Pg.17]

Discharge with the EPA and Agreements with the water companies. Discharges to controlled landfill sites are by agreement with the local waste disposal authority. In all cases the Consents and Agreements will impose conditions on the quantity, rate of discharge and chemical composition of the trade effluents acceptable for discharge. [Pg.37]

Conversely, the adsorption of anions makes the potential more negative on the metal side of the electrical double layer and this will tend to accelerate the rate of discharge of hydrogen ions. This effect has been observed for the sulphosalicylate ion and the benzoate ion . [Pg.812]
