Notch rectangular

Similarly, the volumetric flow through a rectangular notch can be estimated [Pg.127]

Narrow rectangular notches (ho > L) have been found to give about 93 percent of the discharge predicted by the Francis fornmla. Thus... [Pg.898]

For a rectangular notch (Figure 6.23) the rate of discharge of fluid at a depth h through an element of cross-section of depth dh will be given by ... [Pg.262]

Flow measurement in open unpressurised channels is a requirement generally associated with waste water systems and sewers. The use of a weir or notch to measure the flow of a liquid presenting a free surface is described in Volume 1, Section 6.3.8. The flow through a rectangular notch (Fig. 6.7a) is given by (Volume 1, equation 6.42) ... [Pg.448]

For picket-fence weirs and for rectangular notched weirs, and tray liquid level below the top of the teeth, QL in Eq. (6.49) is based on the weir length less the total weir length occupied by the teeth. Fw is based on the total weir length (including the length of the teeth). [Pg.315]

Standard test methods for the determination of Charpy impact strength are Usted in Table 10.11. For example, BS 2782 (Method 351A) uses a rectangular, notched or unnotched, bar supported at both ends in such a position that the pendulum strikes it in the center, directly behind the notch. The energy absorbed in the impact is read directly by means of a pointer from a scale calibrated to allow for frictional and windage errors. Three standard test pieces are defined - the preferred being 120 x 15 x 10 mm with a span of 70 mm. The standard impact energies are 0.5, 1,4, 15, and 50 J. [Pg.1054]

Welded joints of secondary sodium stem of FBTR were subjected to Ulttasonic Examination (UE) as po ASME Sec XI, the purpose for winch is to generate base line data for the foture in-service inspection of these joints. Reference p standards having the same matoial and wdd configuration for different pipe outdde diameters wme made. Rectangular notches hadng a dq>th of 10% wall thidcness, 25.4 mm largtfa and 3 mm vndth were made by... [Pg.128]

Flow through an open channel can be measured using notches. The V notch and rectangular notch are used for this purpose. [Pg.126]
