During the parameter estimation, it was noted that the model is relatively insensitive to changes in k, and therefore it should not be taken as a reliable prediction of the Diels-Alder reaction rate constant. Effectively, the rate R is very large compared with the rates of initiation and chain transfer, and therefore the DH ratio calculation could be simplified without significantly changing the model results ... [Pg.143]

Models that include kinetics also need kinetic data. Properties for kinetic modeling include the rate constants, effective surface areas (e.g., Murphy and Helgeson, 1988), and the forms of rate laws. [Pg.101]

The possibility of formation of corresponding liquid flows mixing fronts under fast chemical reaction proceeding and without it (see 1.3.1) determines the interest in investigation of reaction rate constant effect on conditions of quasi-plug-flow mode formation in turbulent flows (plan reaction front). Low-molecular chemical reactions of the second order proceeding with rate constants in the range of k = 10 +10 1/mole-sec were experimentally studied. [Pg.89]

In our first study, we examined the effect of added alcohols on the solubility of benzalde-hyde in water and on the rate of the benzoin condensation in water. We saw — in a plot with 15 points - that there was a good parallel between the log of the solubility and the log of the rate constant effect (increased solubility and decreased rate with added alcohols in water). Since the effect of added alcohols on the solubility ofbenzaldehyde simply reflects the antihydrophobic role of the additives, this must also be true of the rate effects. That is, apparently there was no extra effect relating to solvation of charges in the rate changes with additives they simply reflected the fact that the transition state for the benzoin condensation -under these conditions the transition state occurs during the addition of the cyanohydrin anion to the aldehyde - is less stabilized by additives than is the starting material. Some... [Pg.19]

HYNES - In response to Fries question, Northrop and Hynes (J. Chem. Phys., 1979) examined the effect of mean solvent potential and distance dependent diffusion for diffusion - influenced neutral reactions. The rate constant effects were very small - order of 30% only. [Pg.345]
