long dwell - applicable in boilers, superheaters, heat exchangers, steam turbines, industrial gas turbines and chemical process plants that operate for long service intervals and are only shut down for maintenance and plant outages  

short dwell - typical of aero-gas turbine operations on short-haul flights and high temperature process plant requiring regular period shutdown  

ultra-short dwell - which characterises many applications that involve heating elements, including industrial furnaces, domestic heaters, toasters and other consumer products, plus components such as automotive catalyst carriers, burners and hot gas filter elements.
