Boots are typically blow molded from thermoplastic elastomers, CVJ boots from TEEE (COPE) and TPV, and shock absorber boots from TPU(E) such as Desmopan. Thermoplastic etherester elastomers and thermoplastic esterester elastomers TEEE (COPE), Arnitel, and Hytrel are blow molded into transmission and wheel CVJ boots for front-wheel drive (FWD) and rack-and-pinion boots. CVJ boots keep grease inside the joints and keep out dirt, grease, salt, and water. The TEEE CVJ drive axle boots have a balance of flexibility and stiffness, fatigue resistance to compression and expansion strains, chemical resistance, and meet accordion design requirements between -40 to 212°F (-40 to 100°C). 3- ...

Nearly all of the dynamically vulcanized EPDM/PP blend s (Santoprene ) growth has been at the expense of thermosetting rubbers due to the blend s easy melt processability and recyclability. Much of this growth has been in automotive applications such as rack and pinion steering boots, seat belt sleeves, and air ducts. EPDM/PP blend has also been used in window and door glazing seals, weather stripping and extrusion applications in the electricaE electronic industry. 

Hence, from above properties, the PA/acrylate mbber TPV is particularly suited to various automotive under-the-hood applications where high heat and fluid resistance is needed such as in automotive boots (CVJ, rack, and pinion), noise/ vibration dampening components, dynamic seals, dust covers, underbody/e-coat plugs, grommets, clean air-intake ducts, transmission oil cooler hose, and so on. The nonautomotive applications take advantage of its better overmolding adhesion to nylons to make soft-touch, nylon parts such as power tool handles, overmolded clips, fasteners, and connectors.
