On entering the chamber C the ions are bent in a circular path, (refer to side view of fig. 1) pass through the slit M which is 1 mm. wide, and impinge on the plate N which makes electrical coimection with the insulated quadrants of the electrometer. The electrometer was the Compton t q5e, specially constructed in this laboratory. With a 75 volt potential on the vane, the electrometer had a sensitivity of 6500 divisions per volt. Under the conditions prevailing dining these experiments, this gave a calculated current sensitivity of 1 X 10 amperes. [Pg.3]

Quadrant For dual-parameter analysis, a two-dimensional plot of particles according to the correlated fluorescence intensities of two colors is, traditionally, divided into four quadrants. The division is based on the background fluorescence of the unstained control sample. The quadrants, from this division, will contain (1) cells that have stained with the first fluorochrome only (2) cells that have stained with both fluorochromes (3) cells that remain unstained and (4) cells that have stained with the second fluorochrome only. In other words, the quadrants are defined so that they delineate the two types of single positive cells (1 and 4), double-negative cells (3), and double-positive cells (2). [Pg.253]

From Fig. 7 the calculation of the power conversion efficiency rj can be derived only the fourth quadrant of the I-V curve represents deliverable power from the device. One point on the curve, denoted as maximum power point (MPP), corresponds to the maximum of the product of photocurrent and voltage and therefore power. The ratio between Vmpp mpp (or the maximum power) and Vqc he is called the fill factor (FF), and therefore the power output is written in the form Pmax = oc fsc FF- Division of the output power by the incident light power res ults in the power conversion efficiency rj ... [Pg.9]

The effect of combining intemal/external pressure with axial tension/compression may be represented by an ellipse created using a yield criterion. In the four quadrants created by the yield criterion, four combinations of the internal/extemal pressure with axial tension/compression may be represented. In the case of external pressure, quadrants three and four (external pressure and axial compression, and external pressure and axial tension) are representative of what is discussed here. Furthermore, only quadrant three is evaluated in Code Case 2286 and Section VIII, Division 2, Part 4 since the topic of internal pressure is not addressed. [Pg.96]

Four divisional separations are used for reactor trip, isolation, and ECC inputs and outputs, both physically and electrically. Physical separation divisions are established by their relationship to the reactor vessel, which is divided into four quadrants. The sensors, logic, and output of the various systems are allocated to divisions. [Pg.137]

Today, compression molded sheets of GUR 1020 and 1050 are produced commercially by two companies (Orthoplastics [formerly known as Perplas Medical] and MediTECH, a division of Quadrant [formerly known as... [Pg.14]
