Pumps unloading

Fig. 5. Equipment foi surface treating plastic components. Parts ate loaded into one of the two lower chambers which is then evacuated to remove most of the air. This chamber is then flooded with a dilute mixture of fluorine and nitrogen which is made and stored in the upper chamber. After the treatment is completed, the fluorine mixture is pumped back up to the upper chamber for storage and the lower chamber repeatedly flooded with air and evacuated to remove any traces of fluorine gas. Two treatment chambers are cycled between the loading/unloading operation and the treatment step to increase equipment output. The fluorine—nitrogen blend may be used several times before by-products from the treatment process begin to interfere. AH waste... Fig. 5. Equipment foi surface treating plastic components. Handling Temperatures. Optimum temperature for pumping is in 37—48°C range. Piping should be stainless steel, aluminum, or galvanized iron. Valves and pumps should be bronze, cast-iron with bronze trim, or stainless steel. A pump of 3.15-L/s (50-gal/min) capacity unloads a tank car of warm glycerol in ca 4 h. [Pg.349]

Other efforts have led to the development of ventricular assist devices to support the heart for several months and intra-aortic balloon pumps (lABPs) which are widely used to unload and stabilize the heart. [Pg.181]

In unloaded or part-load operation, rod reversals must be of sufficient magnitude to provide lubrication to the crosshead bearings. The bearings are lubricated by the pumping action of the opening and closing of the bearing clearance area. [Pg.69]

Bulk unloading facilities usually must be provided at the treatment plant. Rail cars are constructed for top unloading and therefore require an air supply system and flexible connectors to pneumatically displace the alum from the car. U.S. Department of Transportation regulations concerning chemical tank car unloading should be observed. Tank truck unloading is usually accomplished by gravity or by a truck mounted pump. [Pg.95]

Ammonia is unloaded from the storage tank to either of the two fertilizer plants using three discharge pumps for 86 hours. [Pg.446]

Figure 11-21D. Helical rotors refrigerant compressors. (1) Cutaway of a 100-ton intermediate compressor. The intermediate Helirotor compressor has only three moving parts the two rotor assemblies and the capacity controlling slide valve. The general purpose Helirotor compressor has only four moving parts two rotor assemblies, the variable unloader valve, and the step unloader valve. Unlike reciprocating compressors, the Trane Helirotor compressor has no pistons, connecting rods, suction and discharge valves, or mechanical oil pump. Figure 11-21D. After the hole has been unloaded, keep mist and foam injection pumps in operation to clean the hole of sloughing formations, providing a mist of 1.5 barrels of water per hour per inch of hole diameter and 0.5 to 4 gal of surfactant per hour, respectively. [Pg.848]

Pressure regulators, often referred to as unloading valves, are used in fluid power systems to regulate pressure. In hydraulic systems, the pressure regulator is used to unload the pump and to maintain or regulate system pressure at the desired values. [Pg.612]

Practical considerations of unloading play a major role in batch-mass reactors. For "low conversion reactors, a suitably sized dump line must be chosen, based on acceptable N2 dump pressure in the reactor, or discharge pump capability, as well as consideration for limiting reaction in the line between batches. [Pg.75]

A tanker carrying toluene is unloaded, using the ship s pumps, to an on-shore storage tank. The pipeline is 225 mm internal diameter and 900 m long. Miscellaneous losses due to fittings, valves, etc., amount to 600 equivalent pipe diameters. The maximum liquid level in the storage tank is 30 m above the lowest level in the ship s tanks. The ship s... [Pg.207]

The ship must unload 1000 tonne within 5 hours to avoid demurrage charges. Estimate the power required by the pump. Take the pump efficiency as 70 per cent. [Pg.208]

Liquid chlorine is unloaded from rail tankers into a storage vessel. To provide the necessary NPSH, the transfer pump is placed in a pit below ground level. Given the following information, calculate the NPSH available at the inlet to the pump, at a maximum flow-rate of 16,000 kg/h. [Pg.212]

During loading the heat transfer fluid is heated by the supply from outside. It is then pumped to the bottom of the storage and released in small droplets. These droplets rise from the bottom due to their lower density, exchange heat with the PCM by direct contact, melt the PCM and are collected at the top to go back to the inner circuit. Unloading works with cold heat transfer fluid pumped in at the bottom, but otherwise the same. [Pg.303]

Table 8E-4 gives the information needed to specify the pumps for the plant and the average power required to operate them. A detailed calculation for the barge unloading pump follows. [Pg.223]

In search for similar accidents with the same re-occurring deviations prior to the accident, two cases were identified here. In both cases an explosion occurred during the unloading of a tanker when a pump overheated causing a decomposition of N2O vapour, resulting in an explosion. [Pg.108]

The facilities consist of storage tanks or vessels, loading racks (or unloading) by ship, rail or truck, metering devices, and pumping or compression systems. Their capacities are relatively smaller compared to refinery storage and are normally dictated by local commercial demands in the bulk storage location. [Pg.15]
