If the specific gravity at pumping temperature were not equal to 1.0, then the water horsepower would be adjusted by the spceifie gravity. 

For proper selection and corresponding operation, a pump capacity must be identified with the actual pumping temperature of the liquid in order to determine the proper power requirements as well as the effects of viscosity. 

Net positive suction head (in feet of liquid absolute) above the vapor pressure of the liquid at the pumping temperature is the absolute pressure available at the pump suction flange, and is a very important consideration in selecting a pump which might handle liquids at or near their boiling points, or liquids of high vapor pressures. 

For fluids, the worst actual pumping temperature should be used. 

Determine proper pump selection and specifications when pumping oil with SpGr of 0.9 and viscosity of 25 cen-tipoise at the pumping temperature, if the pump must deliver 125 GPM at 86 feet total head (calculated using the viscous liquid).

The cooling cycle starts when all parts of the refrigerator are at about 1.3K. At this temperature, the 3He is completely adsorbed by the pump. The pump temperature is now raised to about 25 K by means of an heater. At 25 K, the 3He is desorbed, and its pressure increases over the saturation pressure at 1.3 K. Consequently, 3He condenses in the part of the tube T internal to the copper support C and drops down into the evaporator E. In this phase, the latent heat of condensation and the enthalpy variation are delivered to the 4He bath. The cooling phase starts when all the 3He is condensed in E and the power on the pump heater is switched off. The pump starts cooling towards the bath temperature, reducing the pressure on liquid 3He in E. The adsorption heat of the 3He vapour is delivered to the 4He bath by L.

A portable electronic data acquisition system was transported to the plant site and connected to the extruder panel. All available instrument outputs from the panel were connected in parallel with the acquisition system. Note At pumping temperatures above 300°C (570°F), bearing housings with pure oil mist lubrication may require special features to reduce heating of the bearing races by heat transfer from the pumpage. Typical features are as follows ... 

When the pumping temperature exceeds 175°C (350°F), the vendor and seal manufacturer should be joindy consulted about using a cooled flush to the seal faces or running the seal chamber dead-ended with jacket coohng. 

Consult manufacturer for minimum and maximum ambient pumping temperature.
