Psoralea corylifolia

At about the same time far to the east in India, physicians were prescribing a strikingly similar regimen for the same condition. Their medication for vitiligo was an infusion of the seeds and roots of a plant known locally as bavachee (Psoralea corylifolia). Patients drank the infusion or applied it directly to their skin. After treatment, Indian patients also exposed their patches of vitiligo to the sun. [Pg.163]

Prenylated salicylic acid derivatives, including 3-famesyl-2-hydroxy-benzoic acid (Fig. 7) isolated from the leaves of Piper multiplinervium C. DC. (Piperaceae) showed mii-Helicobacter pylori activity at MIC 37.5 pg/mL Boropinic acid (Fig. 7), an active constituent isolated from Boronia pinnata (Fam. Rutaceae) had activity against HP with an MIC value of 1.62 pglmL Five novel compounds, psoracorylifols A-E (1-5) with important activity against Helicobacter pylori MICs 12.5-25 pg/mL were isolated from a well-known traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia by Yin et al 2006. [Pg.486]

Five new compounds with unique furan skeleta, named psoracorylifols A-E (Fig. 12) were isolated from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia L. (Fabaceae), a well-known traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The psoracorylifols A-E showed significant inhibitory activity against two strains of HP (SSI and ATCC 43504) with an MIC range of 12.5-25/rg/mL, and against HP ATCC 43504, a drug-resistant strain with an MIC of 128 figlroL ... [Pg.491]
