Matching the Quality Control Effort to the Size of the Winery. The quality control plan can be as deep or as shallow as the individual winery manager desires to make it. It is essential that he determine what his needs are from a quality control program. Sizing the quality control effort to fit the winery and fulfilling this effort is his major goal. Many wineries today turn the Phase I quality control effort over to departments that do more than quality control, partially because of small company size. 

One possible measure of algorithmic complexity is program size. Such a measure is related to the inherent simplicity or complexity of a method. This measure is static it is independent of the size or structure of the particular input data. Some other possible measures are dynamic they measure the amount of a resource used by the method as a function of the size of the input data. Typical dynamic measures are running time and storage space.

You pick a vessel diameter and also input the fraction of the cross-section area you want the vessel to have. With the physical property data and flow rates input as shown, the program calculates a vessel length required to make the average liquid droplet size separation.

Program size metric (SS) Although fault density does account directly for the size of the software (i.e, fault density is the number of faults divided by the number of executable hnes of code), nonlinear effects of size on reliability due to factors such as complexity and inability of humans to deal with large systems still need to be assessed. Programs are divided in four broad categories smaller than 10,000 hnes of code, between 10,000 and 50,000 lines of code, between 50,000 and 100,000 hnes of code, and larger than 100,000 lines of code.

There is not a one-size-fits-all SSP, and tailoring may be needed to account for differences in program size, cost, complexity, and safety-criticality. SSP tailoring should be done judiciously with the appropriate analysis, justification, and rationale to support the tailoring decisions.
