Many sites operate steam trap inspection programs as part of their energy conservation effort. Even if the traps for the steam curtain are included in this program, they should also be checked as part of the curtain inspection program. 

Furthermore, I believe it will be important to make the Green Initiative that Prime Minister Hashimoto presented at the Denver Summit this past June more concrete as a comprehensive action program in relation to the promotion of introduction of energy conservation, non-fossil fuel energy sources, worldwide deployment of forest planting, and promotion of innovative technological development and technological transfer. 

Even with an aggressive energy conservation program, the growing population will continue to demand increasing amounts of electricity. Identify and describe the environmental impacts, both positive and negative, of the two means of power generation coal-fired steam boilers and nuclear power. 

With increasing popularity and attention to proactive methods, structured methodologies are being developed to systematically explore, analyze, and implement energy conservation and waste minimization or cleaner production programs in industries. In many industries, such techniques are now being used as one of the management tools to monitor and control process efficiency and environmental liabilities.

As conceived at the present time, the program could focus on trade impacted industries, such is currently being done in our impacted industries work. But also importantly, it could stretch to lead industries, particularly those threatened by the high R D investments in foreign countries and to industries, which when stimulated by technological development, will have a potential for social benefits such as energy conservation, new employment, and new apparatus for regional development.
