Professional Engineers, Canadian

BRADLEY A. SAVILLE is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at i the University of Toronto. He received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in chemical engi-neering at the University of Alberta. He is the author or co-author of over 25 research articles on enzyme kinetics, pharmacokinetics, heterogeneous reactions in biological systems, and reactors for immobilized enzymes. He is a member, of the Chemical Institute of Canada, the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering, and Professional Engineers Ontario. [Pg.674]

The provincial associations and L Ordre are all members of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers. This was formed to provide a mechanism for consultation between the provincial organizations, and to enable joint action when necessary. One such important joint action was the formation of the Canadian Accreditation Board. This board establishes and maintains the academic levels required for membership in the provincial bodies. It has been able to maintain uniform standards across Canada and thus has ensured that acceptable graduates from any Canadian university engineering fiiculty may to able to join any provincial governing body. [Pg.200]

The Canadian approach to Road Safety Audits includes the traditional aspects of identifying the safety issues and also includes a subjective risk rating as well as a few suggested solutions. The subjective risk rating was requested by the recipients of the Road Safety Audits so that they could apply a priority hierarchy in addressing the issues. The inclusion of a few potential solutions was to fully utilise the expertise of the auditors who have a professional engineer on the team with expertise in road safety. [Pg.135]

In 1921 the Canadian Institute of Chemistry (CIC) was incorporated, primarily to meet the professional and scientific needs of chemists. However, from the earliest days many chemical engineers took an active part in it, and its programming reflected this. [Pg.202]

Specialist societies of chemical interest are also to be found in most Commonwealth countries. In Australia the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (55 Collins Place, Melbourne, C.l), founded in 1917 publishes its Proceedings and Reviews of Pure and Applied Chemistry. The Chemical Institute of Canada (48 Rideau Street, Ottawa 2) was founded in 1921 as the Canadian Institute of Chemistry and adopted the present title in 1945. Its aims are to encourage general interest in chemistry and chemical engineering, to promote scientific collaboration, and to maintain the educational professional and material standards of chemists in Canada. It publishes the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry in Canada. The Indian Chemical Society (University College of Science Buildings, 92 Upper Circular Road, Calcutta 9) publishes the Indian Journal of Applied Chemistry. [Pg.176]
